Premium fuel tune vs e85 tune, same day, same car. Bone stock.
Nice +44 whp with premium fuel tune from the chart. I can do 100 octane or 98 at worst anywhere so I'd choose that, +40 hp sounds awesome to me.

From the chart it looks like the advantage of premium fuel tune over E85 is higher power and higher torque in most of the range especially in lower rpms. With E85 having advantage only over 6700 rpm...

E85 should pull harder throughout the entire RPM range, especially down low. This is a bit strange looking at this result. It's one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do.

Watching... had been toying with getting a flex tune for the 2018 GT and having the same thoughts about the Mach. Would love to go E85 but don't want to deal with the hassle of finding a place to buy it and then test it on top of that.

Is the 15% ethanol I see at the local Thortons what I would need for e85 tune.
I thought I’ve seen it say E85 at other stations.
Flex fuel is the same thing?

E85 is up to 85% ethanol. 15% ethanol would be E15 (It's 88-octane fuel that is refined with 85 percent unleaded gas and 15 percent ethanol).

I personally avoid anything with ethanol, so our eu 100 octane E5 and only with ETBE (ethyl tert-butyl ether) as the bio-compound. Better to avoid any adverse effects ethanol could have on the car. Though I guess in Mustang it must be fine when so many people use E85 in USA.

Manual says: Do not use: Fuel containing more than 15% ethanol or E85 fuel (tune is unofficial, I guess).

The Mustang's flex fuel sensor is the same as the F-150. You just need a tune to tell it what to do and activate it.

So I just got off the phone with Ford Performance tech support.
I asked if there was any plan for a Tune for the Mach 1. The answer was No. They said it already has their tune.

Completely different than my conversation. Well that sucks!

Guess we will just need to call again in February to make sure.
I can wait till next season until I decide on a tune.

There's not much left to squeeze out on 93 octane anyway on this car. I learned from Lund they are no longer doing flex tunes with 2021 and onwards. Something about parameters changing and they aren't near as confident as they were with prior years with it. You still can get a straight E85 tune but without the transition tune (flex) it will be more difficult to swap fuels since you lose that convenience.

It’s funny the response I get when calling places like Steeda or 5 Star on expected horsepower gains with their tune
Both said 30-40
Are they trained to lie or is it ignorance?

I got this info regarding tune for EU Mach 1/Bullitt: "430 whp which is cca 510 hp at the engine". So they tune EU model to similar power that US model has stock. Got chart for manual Bullitt showing 430 whp, but not before/after...

They didn't do any 10R80 Mach 1 yet considering how few got sold and delivered here, so guess I'll have to be the first one next year to test it.

Got only this chart from them:

Don't you have a higher octane there? That should help too. I think that the US stock is tuned for 91 which is the most common higher octane available.

I'm really nervous about tuning mine. Got a programmer ready but it can't even read the stock tune from the car. I hate how these more recent tuners rely on Windows for tuning, that's just a bunch a stuff on the critical path that has a chance of failing and bricking an ECU.
