Got painfully familiar with the polisher this weekend and I'm still not finished. Started out with McGuiar's M205 to knock down the peel and smooth out the clear coat. Followed that with Sonax Perfect Finish and that's what I still have to complete. Meanwhile, here's a shot of painted stripes after both applications.

And Tom, try not to give me TOO much grief, OK? :-) This is OCD at its finest and BION, therapeutic. <smile>

You mean to tell me that Penske let a car out of their shop with orange peel? 10K for a paint job with orange peel?

First the camber plates, now this.....

No offense, but you have more work to do. Serious paint correction.

Let me guess from your avatar "my back is killing me"..... I would guess from all the elbow grease you have been putting into the 10K paint job.

On another note: I see a sneak peak at some silver dollar attention to detail in your above avatar....

SPF starts more aggressive than M205. You're probably not removing significant orange peel unless you wet sand.

Thanks, Jeff, and while I know wet sanding is the only practical way to get all the orange peel, I'm not that ambitious (or brave.)

However, I didn't know that SPF is more aggressive than M205, THANKS! Probably should have gone with 105 to start with but again, I was conservative. Besides, it won't be the last time I paint correct her. :-)

Gents,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality pressure washing system for rinsing and foam cannon use that doesn't break the bank?

It actually finishes down better than the M205 in most cases, so nothing lost besides time in that regard. I agree completely with leaving as much clear coat on the car as possible.

Jeff: Thanks to you, now I know how SPF does what it does. Pretty smart engineering making a compound that creates smaller and smaller particles as you use it.

Lesson learned. I almost started with M105 but I wanted to be conservative. Probably should have tested it on an out-of-the-way spot first.

Anyway, happy with the results. Here's one shot and there are ten more here.

I signed off on the purchase of 0256 on Valentines Day, about a month after it was delivered to the dealership. This was also the first date, so we cuddled (I was little spoon), kissed, and I got to touch most of her parts... Second date is still 3 months away, and yes I will make it well beyond second base...LOL. No, I have not "turned her on" yet.

The car is flawless, after paint correction, full PPF, and ceramic coating.

Of note the calipers had no chips, nor did the shifters have any marks...Thanks to those the highlighted the areas.
