Are you thinking of assembling the engine yourself, save for any machine work that may be needed? If so, there’s no better way to more acquainted with all the inner workings of the engine. It‘s also a really good way to save yourself a lot of money.

I plan to accumulate the parts and then take it a professional. I assembled engines in the past where the investment wasn't anywhere near what I have now. Think old AMC jeeps, dodge neons, and DSMs

I hear you. These engines can get real expensive, real quickly.

Are you planning on taking your time and coming back ready for the 2022 season, or are you looking to bring it back to life this year and make a few outings at the track?

I sure would love to get it done this season but it just doesn't seem likely. If I had the cash today I wouldn't see the short block until September based on the lead times from the folks I called.

Is MMR an option for you? They advertise high hp short blocks for Coyotes. Their website says they have. 4-6 week lead time or 1-2 weeks on a rush for an extra charge.

Dang brother! Sounds like everyone has placed orders for engine builds and that’s the cause of the bottleneck. That sounds just like the situation I encountered with my Sportster‘s bottom end when I sent it off to Darkhorse Crankworks. I waited 3 1/2 months to get it back. On the bright side, it gave me time to breathe, conduct research and gather miscellaneous parts needed to build the top end once I got it back.

Hmm..
I really would hate to see you lose the entire season ....
consider a new /used stock long block While yours is being built ?

A new one can he had for about $5K
Used about $3K

Turn down the boost so can still play a little and then you can swap it out when the built one is ready ...(and build it so you always have a spare ?)

I have seriously thought about this. I'd be throwing away some money but at least getting some action in.

I really don’t think you would be “throwing away ” money. I know I am obsessed with “spare “ shit but it’s at time like this you would appreciate them .
