Just wanted a quick poll.

Has anyone on here been able to independently verify that the Roush tune makes 750Chp?

I ask because I took mine to a dyno to get a baseline after I had my doubts about the installer giving me a real dyno sheet when they said they do before and after dynos.

The car only had one decent pull and shut down at the speed limiter 124Mph.

After the first pull, the CATs were too hot and it would continue going pig rich reducing power further.

Power and dynos are how we mostly measure an engine's performance. If the consumer cannot measure advertised performance how will they ever know something is wrong before it goes catastrophic or if something occurs during warranty but limps across the non-warranty threshold.

This would mean the car has the potential to make 750Chp but will never actually see it due to tune limitations. I have seen that aftermarket tunes do make power consistent with this claim but I'm wondering about the logistics of advertising something that cant be actually achieved in its sold form.

This makes me question, are Roush's days numbered? The EPA crackdown on CATs is killing power. Also, CATs just store pollution they don't solve it, they end up in a dump at EOL. Without any good ideas on a new cooling system or different emissions reduction and measuring tool, I think electric is for sure muscle cars destine end. Also makes me think EPA is going to start going after all force induction vehicles above a certain HP. We may have very well seen the last of the high HP production streetcars. I have researched green CATs and they are not much better they simply are a bit more high flow but also burn out after a time and have to be rich run cooled. I know E-85 does burn cooler but what about CAT temps does it have a significant effect on those?

Has anyone else encountered a better way to cool CATs? Has anyone ever designed or used an active cooling system for their CATs?

I mean getting rid of them is always an option right, legal or not. How have we not improved this simple component with all our tech?

For reference "Drag" mode or any other built-in mode does not shut down the speed limiter nor the CAT protection.

UPDATES: 7:03PM EST
I just spoke with the dyno guy in detail he still had the saved dyno. 4th gear is supposed to be the one-to-one which he used. Also, the car DID shut down at 124 MPH.

I will be getting the run file on Monday and then scheduling a new dyno to verify these results.

I also emailed Roush to get their side of the story here and find out if something was done wrong or this is what a customer car is like now.

I can rev out the car in daily driving so it's not a limitation of the RPM. Something else is at play here. No, I have never wrapped out 5th gear and never gone over 110 on the highway so I can't verify the speed limiter.

People throw this conservative word around with their tunes but this is not acceptable if true.

I would also like to add that this may be the trickery of the dealership I bought from. However, they are a nationwide name for making production performance Mustangs and my purchase papers say Phase 2 all over it, not to mention the dyno graph I was given.

The Roush speed limiter is the same as factory 155 mph. Most phase 2 cars are making between 630 and 660 whp. Do you have before and after dyno sheets from the installer? If so post them as well.

I`m no expert but it looks like they shut it back to soon as these make more power at 6.5-7 k. My car 2015 GT has a Roush phase 1 and it dynos at 610 hp with no speed limiter. Stock phase 1 cal. Some things not right.

Here is the dealer print. I'm pretty sure it's just a preprint from Roush or something, not an actual dyno.

Interesting I read everywhere that the 2018+ have 124Mph speed limiters. I have not tested it but the dyno guy told me it kept shutting down at 124 Mph.

I have videos of the pulls as well.

I mean there is a possibility of the tuner doing it on purpose to sell a custom tune but I told him I just wanted it dyno'd and I was not going to do anything till the warranty expired.

This is what the graph should look like. depending on which rear gear you have for instance I have 3.55 gears and mine was hitting the 155 limiter at 6700 rpm just like yours is showing. I can tell you with 100% certainty the factory and Roush phase 2 speed limiter is 155 mph. there was a version of the Roush calibration that was shutting down at 123 mph. If you look through the big Roush thread on here you will find info. That issue has long since been resolve though so not sure why yours would have that issue.

I have 3.55 gears. I sent my concerns to Roush after this Dyno that was awhile back. They never responded. Maybe it was comical to them. Hence, I'm here at the forum trying to figure out these personal results. They unplugged the traction sensor under the driver side of the engine bay when they did the pull. If I remember correctly they used 4th gear for the pulls.

Are you a manual car or automatic? The plug under the hood is just to turn off all traction control and stability control. That is how Roush told me to dyno my car also with that unplugged.

"Yeah, 5th is the one-to-one." Found to be false on Ford's site.

Hmm, I also have not dyno'd it since Roush's update recently which was actually released 1 month after getting the car but I just put it on 300ish miles ago. Long story on that I have another thread on that.

I would get another dyno day and make sure it is in 5th gear and the plug under the hood is unplugged. It should rev to 6700 rpm and 155 mph. Dyno will vary a little depending the day and weather conditions.

Even if it was done in 4th that should make the numbers higher than 5th before shutdown as its a smaller gear.

Yeah, I messaged the shop and asked a couple of questions confirming, have not heard back. I might also just re dyno it again and document everything in detail to make sure there is no hocus pocus going on here.

You would think that but in my experience the numbers are usually worse. When I had the 123 bug issue I did some pulls in 5th gear (mine is an A10) and my numbers were lower.
