You could wait till the refresh is revealed and then decide if you want that or a '17 since the reveal will still be a month or two before '17 model sales stop.
The wait time makes it tricky - if I wait for the refresh announcement and then order, I will definitely not get a MY17 because the build dates are typically then 9 months or so after ordering here in Oz, and the because of the huge lag time which MY you get is determined by the build date not the order date.

Is MY18 production likely to start in June 2017, like MY17 did this year?
I can't remember where I read it but I'm pretty sure the MY2017 production will be shorter, something like 9 months or so. I think I remember seeing that MY2018 production could start as soon as April of 2017.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in with comments on refresh and production cycle being shorter (?). The refresh on 2013 was announced late in 2011. I remember custom ordering 2013 GT and picking it up on April 12, 2012.

Assuming the '18MY goes on sale Spring/Summer 2017, I assume we can expect to see the car at one of the major shows early next year? Detroit in January, perhaps?

That's really not far away! So, one question..........where are the camo'd mules? :ninja:

Maybe we need to consider extending MY17 until ALL the current designs overseas orders have been delivered and received. If Ford can have it wrapped up by winter, then a Spring release is still on as long as winter testing is complete.

Priority before refresh? Filling the remaining overseas orders for the '15-'17 era.

A 13-14 month MY17 is a good thing... for a '17.5 GT500.

I'm calling late summer. I'd say probably August, maybe even September.

I'd guess even sooner than that. The 2013 refresh was unveiled at the LA Auto Show in November of 2011, so that's where I'd expect them to reveal the 2018 too. I think they'll save Detroit for the GT500 unveil.

Thanks chaps, appreciate your comments. I must admit, an even earlier reveal than January would certainly surprise me, but it'd be a nice surprise!

Given those short timescales, I'm even more surprised we haven't gotten even a sniff of a prototype yet :ninja:

I've been predicting for months that we're going to see MY18 in early summer - like June. I think order banks will open in March, and cars will be arriving in June. I suppose Ford has to wait a little bit into MY17 before releasing refresh news......

Job 1 for the MY17 was 02JUN2016. I'd guess MY17 will run longer then MY16.

I heard MY18 is going to look more like the Camaro. Haha. Jk.

Seriously, it will be interesting to see what Ford does with the refresh....more Shelby styling ques? I think the Active exhaust and Magnetic shocks would be great Mach1 items.

Yeah it is weird, especially since we've seen 2018 F-150 and Fiesta mules running around. They must be out there. One guy that sends me spy shots (like the first grabber blue on the road pic) lives in the area and he says he's seen some kind of camo'd Mustang but he wasn't too specific, and he didn't see it long enough to grab any pictures. Hopefully he sees it again soon!

Whst about that white mustang video and pictures from like 4 months ago with the quad tip louder sounding exhaust? That could be a refreshed GT powertrain mule, some people think it's a Mach 1. For all we know Ford saw people recognized that was a test mule and just started hiding them better with no visual differences from the current model.
Took the words out of my mouth. With the mag ride and quad active exhaust options offered on the Camaro SS, I will be shocked and disappointed if Ford didn't decide to let those features trickle down from the GT350 as options for the 2018 Mustang. This could very well be a Mach1 mule, but I think just as likely a 2018 Refresh maybe.

The white "Mach 1" mule could well be a very early '18MY prototype, but clearly that one was using the stock '15-'17 bodywork.......I'll get properly excited when I see a mule with camo front n rear :)

Oh, and yes, mag-ride and active exhaust would be fine options on the '18 GT. Perhaps the Mach 1 could have these as standard.
