I
I like Musclecars, not Sports Cars. If the Mustang is evolving into a Sports Car, then Ford better bring a MuscleCar into the fold to keep my interest. Big V8, RWD, affordable and robust enough for repeated dragstrip duty. Simple recipe.
Im my humble opinion
My S197 was a Musclecar, you sat higher in the car, it looked and felt like a True US Mustang from the ages, the retro lights was a beautiful car. I did not like the 2010 refresh
And hated the front of the S550 when I saw it.
But I love the tech and to me this is
A Tech City Sports car, you sit lower, and it looks and feels much more like a racer. its not a musclecar
But I have had sports cars before, and dont mind them. But I do like the retro stuff and that is why I had to get the 16 with the hood indicators as its retro cool
But when I saw the CS I loved everything about it, but everyone I know and me were pretty shocked when i said the S197 is going and I am getting the S550
Steph was going to book me in at the Doc's :D
And it was a massive gamble as unlike you lot, I only had a GT TY to look at and test which was not a CS
But lucky I got it right, I love it and its the best car I have ever owned
But if i was not into the tech or could not get a LHD with all the added toys, I would have stuck with my S197

If they put the Tremec 6060 in the refresh, I will completely make up my mind and buy a new 2018 when they come out next year!

Honestly, the MT-82 is the only reason I am still undecided on what to do next spring. Nothing looks better than the Mustang right now, not even close. I don't think a refresh will hurt that, but there are mechanical issues I am not sure I am ready to 'buy in to' at this point.
This really shouldn't hold you from buying. There are quite inexpensive ways to drastically improve the feel of the mt-82, which is already notably improved over the previous generation. The mt-82 is fine, the shifter that connects to it needs some work. Mine has gotten quite smooth and snickety after 35,000 miles. Could it be better? Sure. Is it bad? Not at all.

Disagree on all points. I love just about everything you seem to hate so much about this car you sell. Maybe you shouldn't work at a Ford dealership.

You guys are wishing for a GT350 in a $32k package. I for one like the way the current GT looks and do not want a GT350 clone with a lesser engine.

Styling is very subjective and we all deserve our opinions. It doesn't cost more to make a nice looking design, by the way, so Ford could make changes at minimal cost.

Ford makes some of the best cars on the market and I'm proud to work at a great dealership. I don't have to love every single vehicle that Ford brings to market, though.

I am one of Ford's biggest Mustang fans, but I'm waiting for a design that appeals to ME. The '18 refresh gives me hope that I'll buy another Mustang in the next few years. If not the refresh, then maybe the S650.

Thanks man, and you are correct. . In the end of the day it really is my main concern with the car, but at this price point it is not a deal breaker by any means.

well said, sir! This is exactly why everyone has their favorite mustang. For me, I thought that I was set and the Boss 302 was it for me. Then the S550 came out, and I thought, well, its OK...I like certain things about it, and others I don't. Then the GT350 came out and it was game over. I HAD to have it. It sure is a great time to be a Ford enthusiast!

I've always been a tad confused when people say things like "the GT350 is a huge improvement" when comparing it to the lower trim Mustangs. Of course it is. It's a $60k+ track monster designed to look as mean and sexy as it sounds and drives. ALL other 6th gen Mustangs are lesser versions of it. If the GT350 didn't get the special treatment with its own unique look, and instead GT's were clones of it, I'd think that very odd. Is that a GT or a Shelby? Well I'm not sure, they look the same.

Wishing for a better look on the hood/front fascia doesn't result in a $60k sports car. You could have the Mustang have the body of a high end exotic and it wouldn't up the cost that much at all. Design doesn't cost much. Once this refresh is out, we'll have basically the look of the GT350 from the window forward for the most part...and if anything it will be a couple hundred dollars increase.

That's the nice thing about opinions...we each have our own on the design of the front. Some hate it, some love it, some are meh, but it looks like Ford didn't love it that much now that you see the changes coming..and feel like the GT350 front is the look they want.

Agreed. That's exactly the same way I feel...I want a design/car that appeals to me. The front end of the S550 and the lack of modern things on it, especially something other then a 6 speed at this point were things I wasn't going to pull the trigger on when other cars like the Challenger, Camaro all have 8 speeds and other modern tech. Now that both are coming and more, I'll be in line when they go on sale.

The render isn't close. And the headlights aren't going back to the ugly s197 look.

They still wrap around. Only now it looks a bit more modern.
You mean..........you've seen it? :eyebulge:

You can see a bit of the new bumper and the new tribars on the mule. Not sure about the headlight shape, but just because I think changing the fender would be a too big change for a facelift.

It's a twin turbo voodoo, obviously. You can tell from the way the exhaust is routed, and from the shape of the radiator.
I was thinking its time for them to be testing the new GT500's.

They can really abuse (test) the new A10 in a 700+hp car.

I don't think this refresh will include sheet metal changes as suggested by the rendering -- I am open to being wrong. The render looks cool, but I don't expected to be 100% accurate. It looks to me like the front quarters of the rendering would be a new stamping. I do think a new spoiler design -- closer to the GT350 Track Pack ducktail -- might be under the camo.

A new ducktail spoiler option would be awesome!
