For those talking about power, Topnotch posted back in May that 2018 "could see":
2.3 w/350hp
5.0 w/450hp
5.2 w/550hp

Not saying 100% those are the numbers but I wouldn't expect more than that. All are well within the usual mild refresh expectations.

550 seems pretty stout for the 5.2, is that a new [high winding] FPC based motor? (I'm assuming so with the difference between it and the 5.0 output).

Exciting stuff!

It also adds weight (weight is bad mkay) and it adds it in the wrong place (high above the center of gravity).
I'm waiting for the glass floor. That's something I could really get behind...

I don't know if it would be FPC or CPC. He only said the 5.2 would live on, he made no guarantees about whether it would be in a GT350 or another model.

If it makes any less than 460hp and 425lbft, Ford will start losing marketshare.
I dunno, the Mustang has had the lowest hp of the three ever since the 2016 Camaro debuted. Hasn't hurt Ford's marketshare one bit. The Camaro's poor sales show clearly that the masses don't care about who has the most horsepower. Those wanting the most power go and buy the Challenger that's nearly 7 years old and those that want affordability, different looks and/or a more well-rounded package buy the Mustang.

Yes it was a mid lifecycle addition, but if it was popular then Ford would had included it in the new design.

When Ford was asked about why there was no glassroof on the S550, I believe they claimed that the contours of the roof prevented it.

I personally believe it wasn't popular enough to justify the added manufacturing requirements.
First year for the glass roof was 2009 on the 45th anniversary cars.

This x100

Didn't the S197 glass roof add something like 100lbs? it probably raised the CG by quite a bit too. :tsk:

I always avoid sun roof options on performance cars. The glass roof, while cool, is detrimental. Someday, when the performance level of these cars is long outdated, the glass roof S197 cars will likely be sought after.

Nice...and Camaro guys want glass C-pillars! :D

The thing with the Mustang's lower HP numbers was that it was also the lightest car by a good margin. The 412hp Mustang would consistently be quicker than a 426hp Camaro. That's no longer the case.

To your point, the sales seem to indicate that most don't care...and it helps that the Coyote is an incredibly rewarding, flexible, joy-inducing engine, regardless of power output. At some point, we'll need more grunt though.

So...do we have anything concrete suggesting that the GT350 will be done after 2017?

Nothing that I've seen. If that "GT500 mule" that was posted recently turns out to actually be a GT500 then maybe the GT350 will be in jeopardy. But honestly I think that mule was just a GT350 with a refreshed front end for 2018. It sure sounded like the current GT350.

I wouldn't expect a significant change in power on the GT350. There's little market driver to push that. I would expect a non-manual option in 18 or 19, though.

Your power figures for the EB and GT are optimistic and pessimistic, respectively. Expect 325-330 for the EB and at least 460 for the GT. The RS hardware will likely be migrated to the Mustang, but with a more conservative calibration for daily use, fuel economy and emissions. The GT gets upgraded fuel systems and the brave new world that opens up. It won't crest 470, though, and meet emissions.

Really? Based off what data? Your opinion? Ford has always been underpowered and still outsells competition. Nor does the Mustang really drive a large portion of Ford's stock. Just like now, people will still choose the slightly slower car assuming it looks good and has good drivability and ergonomics.

That all makes sense. Putting the 10 speed in the GT350 would certainly make it more competitive and cause it to sell probably twice as well as it is currently (and probably no end in sight for mark-ups :frusty:).

I was just forwarding on the number Topnotch posted. Made sense to me. The 5.0 got a 15hp bump for 2015, and only 8 more hp for the 2013 model year. So 15 more for 2018 seemed about right. EcoBoost I figured would get the Focus RS improvements making 350 easy but I can see how keeping it a little lower makes sense too.

The 5.0's bump for 15 was all airflow improvements. This time you'll have what the '17+ F-150 is doing for fuel systems.

I just want a 10spd Auto with the PP. But please dont require me to have a glass roof...I hate them. First off insurance loves replacing them....lol my Scion TC has one, small fixed panel replacement was $1200, not even the Sunroof part. Yeh insurance took care of it ut dam, my Lexus and Venza both had them and they are heaters....here in sunny colorado it was like having my own solar field to roast me. LOL
