I'm not sure why this is important but, apparently equal length headers are eventually replacing the current headers. thePill was unaware that they were not equal... There is, was, an issue with emissions I guess.

That leads me to believe that Port Direct Injection is on the way for the 2018-2020 GT350. Could this be a 550hp/450tq version of the Voodoo?

I believe some of the S650 tricks will debut on the GT350, mostly the structural lightweighting the S550 never got.

IMSA's GT4 will be Championed by the GT350 as well as the Porsche GT4. The absolute best two vehicles to emerge from the GS class since 2005.

Since I posted this I believe a few things have been 'confirmed' already.

The GT350 will continue into 2020, Port Direct Injection is on the 2017 F150 Coyote and the Hellcat better watch out.

Update:

The "Port Direct Injection" has an official name and mission.

The system is called a DUEL FUEL INJECTION system. It enhances fuel economy to hopefully alleviate the gas guzzler tax on the Voodoo. It enhances emissions so the possibility existed to use a more optimal equal length header. It also maintains and enhances the ability to sustain extreme engine loads. 8300RPM could maybe see a bump to access horsepower above the redline. Some sources say more power is made over 8300 because it continues to climb.

Probably larger torque gains vs. HP gains. The engine gains 20-30hp but gains 50-60tq.

Cylinder Temperatures should drop as well...

They're still making F150 coyotes for 2017? I thought the EB engine replaced it.

I've only read the last few pages, but wth. If you say "confirmed," post a link to the source. Otherwise gtfo.
Honestly? If we wait for the "official" word from the manufacturer, we will be looking at the car during a car show.

How many clues need to be thrown in your general direction?

You won't get any official word on the GT350 until January 2017. Nothing official... it is either these info waves or as you say, GTFO. It's up to you.

I hope the gt350 ends in 2017 and keeps it tradition like the 65/66. I don't want to see a 2018 gt350, by then it's already old news. Bring out the Cobra, gt500 or mach1 etc whatever you wanna call it.

No kiddin, lets get a CPC high output motor into something. I'd feel a little more at ease with that setup. Ford may need to keep making the 5.2 FPC thru 2019 just to build enough replacement motors for all that they sold already.

Ford wouldn't have an extreme engineering advantage if they abandon a Flat Plane Crank. It is more of a Motorsport decision overall but I'm sure OEM demand had an impact.

With the Voodoo, Ford has an advantage.

They will not abandon that sucess especially now after it's been tried and true. It is a first year product and only a few failures overall.

I don't want to see a gt350 beyond 2017. A 2 year run makes them special. I don't want it to be a continuation. Even if they improved it or upgraded it in anyway. Stop while its this good and make the next great mustang and learn from this awesome car. But please do not make a 2018 Ford.

I'm late to this party, as I've took some time off from the forums.

I did however get first hand confirmation that there would indeed be a 2018 350. I wont divulge this persons name or his position with Ford but he is most definitely high enough up the ladder to know.

The next day I asked a question about the GT500 and was told it would "share" a component with the 350. So, there will be a 2018 350 for sure.. and apparently a 2018 500 or closely following the 2018 350. I don't like to speculate but having been given first hand information I don't consider it speculation at this point.

Engine wise, I see a gt500 share the same block and heads. The rest of the engine not so. I'm going to stick with my gut and hope the 2017 is the last year.

Might not upgrade to the 2017 350R then. Might wait for 2018.

I'm hoping for the same as well. Keep the GT350 exclusive. The 5.2 could easily come out as a 5.2 CPC version in a Mach 1 variant and be sold right alongside the GT500. Ford stated they wouldn't produce 2 Shelby's at the same time, so I sincerely doubt they will wait until 2020 to bring back the GT500. No point in making the Mach 1 the Hellcat fighter and take away the "top dog" position of the GT500.

They could still quite easily enter a Mustang GT4 with a 5.2 CPC for racing purposes, while also promoting two new products in the Mach 1 with a 5.2 NA CPC, and the GT500 with possibly a TT 5.2 CPC. Keep the 350 exclusive and special, bring two new products to the line with their own respective unique characteristics, and keep sales, interest, and demand high.

Porsche has proven that there is no benefit of stretching special edition vehicles out longer than 2-3 years.
