Hello everyone. I bought my mustang last year so the first thing I did was a cold air and a tune. Simple I thought. I brought it to a well know tunner and he must of ran it on the dyno about 25 times. (Over 3 visits). He said it keeps pulling 8 degrees of timing. We tried new plugs checked the cats and even pit a sock over the filter. Has anyone had a problem tuning there s550 mustang. Thanks

Need to go over the complete exhaust system and check for rattles.

I'm sorry but maybe a tuner modification? You brought it back to the guy 3 times for ~25 pulls with no resolution. I assume you're using 91-93 octane?

Yes I brought it to the tuner that many times and kept trying to tweek it with with no results. And yes 91 octane. Hard to find anything higher around here. I will go i will over exhaust . And thinking about bringing it to another tuner. I lost all confidence in this guy. But I'm hrs away from anyone else.

Being from New Brunswick, there’s not likely many “experts” on the s550 platform. I would be looking for one of the big names on the forum here and go that route.

Was it pulling 8° on the stock tune? What CAI? Could be as simple as dialing in the MAF.

Was it pulling or adding 8? What was the total timing?

I would assume the tuner would know that -8 is adding not subtracting, but one never knows.

He has 15 + years just tuning. I would hope he knows that. The whole thing is frustrating. This guy should know his shit.

Base run 390 hp and after cold air intake a tune. I got 404 rwhp.

Swap back to stock intake and tune and it works fine? Can he tune it on the stock setup just fine? Was proper intake / maf data provided for tuning?

He did not give me any data. The last time I was there I left my car for 5 weeks. And all he did was check the cats. So I said enough I taking it home.
