There is a pretty big possibility that there will be NO CONVERTIBLE option. I tried to dig up production numbers on '07-'14 GT500 convertibles just FYI.

It should help keep cost lower but it won't help reduce any unwanted reinforcement. There is little or no chance Ford is going to remove structural integrity in order to save weight... they didn't for the GT350.

Anyway, I will keep an ear to the air about the convertible.

Another thing, there are Nurburgring times being circulated by what appears to be Camaro fans. As far as thePill knows, the GT500 hasn't been over yet. A Ring time was PM'd to us here and already, camaro fan rejoices (only one). He claims it ran a 7:25. He would also have you know it's 2 seconds behind the zl1. As always, thanks for reading...

IMSA is merging CTSC GS with some other classes for IMSA GT4. The requirements seem slightly more demanding (bye bye 1Le). An unrestricted 550hp GT350 for GT4 in 2018 will be hard to beat.
Could thePill elaborate a bit more on your thoughts about the GT4 changes in IMSA? My reading on this topic quickly got me in over my head.

For example, does "unrestricted 550hp GT350" mean no BOP restrictions to give the 1LE or Z28 their turn to take the championship?

Always appreciate your ballsy opinions whether they end up being >50% accurate or not.

I hate to speculate on a racing organization BUT, I believe GT4 will bring the Corvette into the fold, one way or another. It also looks to be "Run what you Brung" or "Shake what you make", close to OEM as possible.

GS uses a 405rwhp Max output. I hear it's moving to Factory PtW. It's exciting for sure... around 20 manufactuers have shown interest, nearly 40 teams. Ford and Porsche are leading the way.

Thats what i said a long time ago. There has to be a transmission that is rated for the power output and there is nothing right now, unless they somehow beef up the 11 speed.

Well, it isn't about vibration. It is about harmonics & resonance.. (
The effects of vibration.)

Regardless, Smith was accurate. It comes down to the TR6060's 660tq max capacity. While that may pose a problem elsewhere, Ford has a long and recent history of long runners and high rise intakes. Dating back to the 2012 Boss 302 that used long runners to the Cobra Jets high rise systems.

These systems typically sacrifice peak torque for more torque through the curve and higher peak HP. Good strategy if your chassis and tire width is getting taxed out.

Good call Machsmith... unless they think of something, 660 is about max.

Rumor is they achieved 800hp w/emissions and decent MPG's.

I'm thinking it will in fact be a 5.4.

With the 3.700 bore they could raise the deck height and increase the stroke, maybe a 5.8L? A 5.4 based off of the current deck height would be cool just not as cool.
Tired of gm have a displacement advantage.

Who cares about what GM does with a non-DOHC pushrod engine with larger displacement? Ford is past that old-ass tech.

The Voodoo does with 5.2L what the nasty 7.0L couldn't do in the Z/28.

I'm fed up with people thinking displacement matters. Liters and cubic inches mean nothing. Fords 5.0 out performs Chevys 5.3 and it hangs with Chevys 6.2. And the ford 5.0 actually makes more power per liter / cubic inch then dodge or Chevys larger V8's

I'm a fan of all cars good or bad. I can find and appreciate the best traits of any car including Korean or what have you.

That said, which EcoBeast are you referring too? If it's not the ultra exclusive Ford GT (which is called ecoboost still) is it the 450hp unit in the raptor? Chevy has a TT V6 that makes the same power.

Fords 2.3, 2.7, 3.5 ecoboost engines are second to none.
