I dunno, I think it will come out looking pretty good. They don't need to separate from the current design too much aside from changing the size to adapt to the new Alpha structure. The current design has worked for them. And those who say the sales weren't really that great in comparison to the S197 when it first came out...umm what other options in the pony car category did the people have then????? The Mustang. You can't compare the sales of the s197 Mustangs release to the Re-release of the Camaro or even the S550's Release. It's a different atmosphere all together with options galore for the consumer.

IMO doesn't look better than the Mustang, but it just has a different more aggressive look that I do like...just not more than the look of the Mustang.

I see the Camaro is continuing it's trend of piss poor outward visibility into the next five years. That is really the biggest bitch about the current gen. They've done a good job of really making the chassis work with the weight it has but they haven't fixed the ability to see out of the thing. Every time I see a new Camaro on the road I think about sitting in a pillbox.

Agreed. The first time I ever sat in one, I knew it would never happen for me. Couldn't see a damn thing.

A few thoughts...

This is still pretty heavily camo'd. Granted it seems like we're seeing a more production ready form much sooner than we did with the S550. It seemed like we went on FOREVER seeing heavily clad mules and S550's wearing S197 bodies.

I doubt the production model will have that Pontiac style split in the grill. I suspect the tail-lights will also resemble the 5th gen refresh more than anything else.

Otherwise..it's clear they don't give a rip about improving visibility. The S550 has the Ford corporate face, but for some reason GM forgot they don't own Scion?

They did cover up quite a bit with the camo tape. It looks like the A-pillars are exaggerated with the tape overflowing onto the actual windscreen.

There's still a lot of camo on the car that's obscuring the final shape. Lots of cars share similarities. The thing that sticks out, the piece that splits the grilles on the two cars, almost certainly is just part of the camo on the Camaro and won't be on the actual car. Don't see why they would break up the grille.

Based in the new spy pics, I kinda figured this was the most logical next step, I just don't know why I am still disappointed. I absolutely hated the tall doors on the last one and the giant, bulbous rear end area and it appears that's here to stay. I can dig the Bumblebee fasic but I doubt that actual design will translate very well. The industry standard side gills/foglight area is soooooooooooo played out already. I'm glad it is functional and that's what's important. The Mustang looks athletic and I was really ready for an honest American Sports Coupe. The high beltline that cursed the Zeta is carried over to the Alpha.

Waiting on some rear suspension pics and an official wheelbase.

Here's what I'm thinking... The Camaro was ready for a facelift. However, as I preach on the constant, the platform is worthless. I think the Generation change is pretty much and evolved 5th Gen in terms of chassis. This is kinda what Corvette did...

It seems like the long hood is gone. I'm betting its on an altered Alpha, probably keeping the 112.5 inch wheelbase.

^^^This..You are 100% right. It appears tape comes way up from the frame and way down the frame on the sides. In addition the tape comes way down on the front windshield. If you go look at the other spy pics it much more notable..


It appears Chevy is still appeasing the enthusiast and the bird beak on this car has a good chance of screwing up what they attempted to improve with the larger windows.

Looking at more of the pics, it seems they might be covering up quite a bit of the bottom window on the doors. Perhaps there will be improved visibility on the next model.

I doubt they will get the weight savings I keep hearing about for much the same reasons the S550 didn't get them. All that extra safety and equipment has weight.

The 16 Camaro looks a lot smaller than it's predecessor. For comparison, 20's on the old car looked tiny on this car 20's seem to be maxed on wheel size.

2016 Camero

You guy's have nailed on visibility. I looked at one back in 2009 before I bought an SRT 8 Challenger. The look out visiblity was...will very limited. The dash was high and the size of the A pillars from the inside out made it feel like I was in an gun turin set up. The chopped side windows look very cool from the outsde but aren't very practical for view, especially with the low seat height.

The view out back because of the slope of the window, looked in your review mirror like it was 3ft x 8 inches. Never mind trying to see up and over the rear pillars and the high rear hips.

I thought it was funny that some of you guy's mentioned Pontiac. It has been my contention that ever since GM dumped Pontiac, that some of the design are alive and well working over at Chevrolet.

That became painfully obvious to me with the re design (Ruined) of the 2014 Corvette. That design has Pontiac all over it.
