Are you saying the EPA numbers arent met in the real world and people's actual numbers are going to be worse or are you saying peoples numbers are actually better in the real world then the EPA.

Well, based on the EPA Fuel Economy Sticker figures for the Ford Fiesta, "real-time" City and Highway Fuel Economy "Exceeds" the projected estimates!

Do turbo's generally have higher maintenance costs? I read that the ecoboost engines typically have carbon build up issues - is this what you were talking about?

Turbocharged = more moving parts, more complexity, more heat and overall more stress on the engine. That usually equates to higher maintenance costs over time.

It depends how long you keep it. I live in New England. Our cars evaporate due to calcium chloride used to treat the roads. Combined with heat it makes for a great battery that dissolves fasteners. Say your turbo takes a dump just out of warranty, my GT is N/A, if the exhaust needs to be replaced it must be time for coated long tubes

Even if it's under warranty is i Ford's problem that the car is used in an environment that causes the extraction and replacement of broken fasteners? It depends on the dealer.

The current 5.0 is proven and simple (respectively) oil changes are the only thing that would cost more due to oil quantity and that is negligible.

Need a 5.0 injector go to a parts store, need an Eco DI or HP fuel pump pull down your pants.

The factory extended warranty is strongly encouraged for EcoBoost owners because not much will fail under the standard time but when it does, mine is gonna be cheaper to fix.

No, to answer your actual question but if it's like the Audi's carbon problem that seems like a PITA.

Don't you need to run the 91 or 93 octane in the EB to get the fuel savings where with the GT you can run 87?

Since the 2.3-liter Ecoboost is easily capable of more than its 310 hp output in the Mustang, which was dictated more by fuel economy concerns than anything else, the RS is free to pump out between 325 and 350 hp. T

I do think some of the modded EB are going to be fast as sh-t and fun to drive with that torque/acceleration, especially if there is that much HP left on the table as they were saying about the Focus ST.

For the record, over the years I've owned a V8 Mustang, I've generally seen them hit within the number range with a mix of city and highway driving (split 50-50 or 60-40). It is my opinion that these ratings are solid, and I still find it amazing that my "old-tech" 2010 vintage 4.6L V8, with 120 less hp, has similar ratings to the updated 5.0L. I also find it amazing that the new 2.3L I4, with virtually the same hp and torque rating at that same "old-tech" 4.6L achieves 31mpg on the highway.

And anyone who is getting the V6 model will also have a great performing car with reasonable fuel economy.

I challenge anyone to hypermile drive these cars and prove "you're better" by doing that, rather than browbeating someone about their choice. I'm just glad to have that choice!

99% of people are not buying this car to be practical!! These cars are meant for fun and to MOD like crazy and enjoy driving. If 3-5 MPG is a decision for you buy something else.
I ordered a 5.0 but I have spoken with a few tuners who think the ecoboost can run a 10 second quarter mile. I bet both models are fun to mod and enjoy doing it.

The v-6 uh.........
