Depends on boltons and tune. STIs can have no mods, or 10K under the hood. At that point, not even a GT can do much.

The WRX here, with a stage 2 tune was said to be putting down STI levels of power. But I don't really know.

Ok I dunno what happened to that WRX but it fell flat on its face after launch you can hear the motor fall out of boost badly. Now I dunno about his mods but it was your race for sure man clean run for you and congrats. Now I dunno what the turn out would have been for a WRX that could launch. I have drove a few STI and they will launch alot harder than that and not fall so badly. Still dang good race man!!!! Congrats.

Thanks, same outcome in three attempts. He did bog a bit on this one. From what we were reading he has to launch harder (higher rpm).

His mods are DP & stage 2 Cobb tune.

He definitely needs a shift stop, too much wiggle. 1-2 are bad on his car from factory .

A wrx base isn't that fast, especially after launch.. I figured an EB would beat it.

I think I read you have a tune too, well that video is exactly what I expected!

I hate wrx owners, always making me launch perfectly.

this is what I expected as well. Stock WRX turbo has poor top end. after ~5800rpm power drops off hard(looks like they drop 30-40hp from 5800rpm to 6700rpm)

shifting at 6200 instead of readline would probably make the car perform a little better, but its still not enough power to match a EBM (stage 2 2015 wrx vs tuned EBM)

Frankly I'm surprised. I really thought the WRX would be much faster.

Launches feel hard. Must be AWD & better traction from a dig.

properly launched, they pull hard. Botch the launch and it will bog down hard after that initial hard jump. I could be wrong, but in the video it looked like he may have let the clutch out a little too quickly for a perfect launch in the wrx.

I drove a 400whp sti for 2 years before I bought my gt. There's roughly a 40hp difference between the wtx and sti stock. The tranny is the huge difference. STi is nearly bullet proof while the wrx is rather fragile. He probably bogged the launch on purpose. Or at least he should've.

Also, the EB should have no problem out running a stock or even tuned wrx. Unless the wrx is full bolt on and e85. Then it's not even a close race. Now, both cars with same mods? Close race, but with the longer gearing in the eb, I'd put my money there every time. People misinterpret the wrx to be a fast car. They can get out of the hole nicely due to the awd platform IF the driver knows how. After that, they fall on their face.

I put a 2005 STI transmission in my 2004 WRX back in the day. Best upgrade I did to that car besides the AEM EMS

Yep! Caterpillar helped make the 05 STi trans. That thing is literally the best thing subaru ever made. Too bad their ringlands aren't as strong [emoji38]

you know, I think the 2.5L is worse than the old 2.0 liter

my little ej20 took a beating. Used launch control all the damn time to launch and spit flames and make noise, ran a vf39 turbo(04-07 STI turbo), water injection, 80 shot of nitrous and learned how to tune(i did all the tuning), all on that car with the stock engine

it was burning about half a quart every thousand miles, but no smoke and still good compression. When I pulled it out to drop in a built 2.5L, I cracked open the 2.0l and saw the ring lands were not broken and no scaring on the cylinder walls. Made me

Sounds like you had one of the few good ones. Must have been that T6 motor oil ;) I do miss boost and that Subie rumble sometimes, I gotta admit. You?

I miss the car for sure, but at this point I'm over the turbo 4cyl game. Too easy to dump a lot of money into it. Wouldn't say it's a waste by any means as it was lots of fun and so was my 2014 Evo, but now I'm at the point where I want a decently powered very responsive car that I don't have to downshift a gear or two to easily pass someone

You must have bought the GT, like me then! Lol. I'm a huge fan of instant power. Boost is fun, but so is torque with the blip of a throttle.
