I already have a 2015 EB base, magnetic, manual trans and foundry wheels on order but now I'm starting to wonder if I'll still wish I had a V8! The S550 GT is priced more than I can afford and I do need a replacement vehicle within 2 months. I'm thinking the HP and torque on the EB will keep me happy enough and the mpg is sweet but.... That V8 sound!...nothing like it!
I've found a used 2013 GT manual trans in sterling grey with 6k miles at a dealer and they're asking $27.5 which is just a little more than my new EB S550 would be.
What to do , what to do ??

When I went to local dealer about the 2015 he tried to sell me a new 2014 GT for 28k. I'd go new if at all possible just for warrenty peace of mind if nothing else.

Do whatever you feel you will be the most happy with. Better engine or better car? If you do choose the s197 v8 over the s550 eb, than definitely get a brand new 2014 as they can be had for the price of that used 2013

I just couldn't go for a S-197 after seeing the S-550 in Pictures alone. I think You'll really Regret it if you don't get the 2015.

I think you guys are right. After looking over all the photos again, interior and exterior, the S550 wins hands down, no matter what motor. The 2013 looks boxy in comparison and the interior looks spartan and much cheaper.
I've never owned a V8 Mustang, just admired the sound. One of my favorite cars I've previously driven as a loaner was a BMW 335i manual transmission and I forever after thought it was awesome due to the power and torque. Now I find out that it only had 300HP and 300 ft/pounds of torque. The EB has more than that so I'm hoping it will be pretty darn fun to drive no matter what the engine noise is like.

Welcome to the club then :) you made a good choice either way.

IMO if I were in your shoes and I couldn't afford the GT, then i would have chosen the s197 v8. But my reasoning is a little different...i'm just tired of whoosh turbo then here comes the power lol I like throttle response :D

V8 definately, the S197 is a good proven car imho.
I sit in very comfortable with this nice angled middle console all down to the shifter and no big cupholes to bother.
I advice you to sit in it and let you feel, i like very much the big hood in front which let me feel yeah there must be something under it. And even more the vents ! It´s so impressive on a red light or something and see the hot air comes out on wet days or in hot days you look into the flickering area obove them, great !
We all do not know how the new rides on our std. streets. to sporty and hard isn´t my thing. The S197 wasn´t bad in that matter for all around, perhaps more cruiser but that´s ok for me. But even with 120mph on autobahn it was stable and nice. I dont understand why this sporty factor is so important in countries with speedlimits and wide roads ?
The 2013/14 Stang will be the last retro styled and with stripes it´s sometimes mixed up with a shelby.
Sure the S550 is improved with IRS but hey i noticed that live axle only on bumpy roads or fast driving in a corner with bad autobahn holes....a bit funny like sitting on a pony and riding rodeo :-) loved it anyway.

You can get a steal of a better deal on a NEW 14 with close to 4000 rebates and x plan combined. Even tempts me. Dont go used. But DO get a GT.

if you're questioning yourself now that means you probably should get a GT. I was, every time I thought about my order I was already thinking in the back of my mind about a GT. so I decided to do it and changed my order to a GT about a month after I had originally order an EB. when I changed my order it even had a vin but I knew it had to be done. The dealer wasn't mad they'll sell it to someone else...
right now I'm at the max of what I can afford but I know it will be worth it to be happy with the car for years to come and not ever say or think "I wish I had......"
I recommend you do some soul searching. what will keep you HAPPY for years to come, go over your finances again and rethink your decision. that's what I did

I'm in the minority on this site now and I realize this but... I decided not to wait and got a new 14 GT, and boy I couldn't be happier. Speed wise the gt will leave the s550 in the dust every time. Only thing they will truly have on you is a nicer interior. Looks are subjective. Everyone I have shown has liked my car better than the S550 because they say it doesn't look like a muscle car. Personally I love the looks of the s550 but I also love the looks of the current models. Your best bet is to drive the GT and then drive another 335i coupe and ignore the interior. Ask yourself if you will be happy long term with just over 300 hp or if that extra 100hp is what your heart wants.

I haven't regretted my decision at all btw

If you think you could have regrets, wait until you can drive them side by side. If you change your mind after delivery, you get the nice depreciation hit.

You do mean the S550 Ecoboost right? Because there is no way the 14GT will leave the 15GT in the dust. I would bet 2 pennies that speed will be at least the same in a straight line and around a track it will not compare. Knowing full well that you love your new car (as you should since the '14 is outstanding), I think you are drastically underestimating how much of a difference an improved chassis and suspension can make, including a more squat stance, better weight distribution and everything else we know about. It's not just about brute power anymore for the Mustang, tho if you want that it's still there.
