go to SVTPerformance and search for "My car just caught on fire!" thread by user "impactblue". since I cant link it i'll just retype it here verbatim:

"My friend and I were driving down the road when all the sudden flames/sparks shot out between the seat and center consul[sic]. It looked like an upside down bottle rocket launching fire up. Scariest thing that has ever happened in my life and my eyes are burning from all the chemicals/smoke.

It got melted plastic up on the windshield and dashboard. All over my belongings."

I know this fire started in the engine bay, but cant get past the fact that both issues somehow involved the seats. The above was posted on 11-18-2014.

Sorry this happened OP and glad to see you are ok. Above poster ended up having to crawl out of his window of his car.
its the same car.
I saw the thread and I thought it was somebody else. Still sucks that happened to the car and that the dealer should be liable.

On another note, the thread was pretty long thread and it turned out to be so nasty and full of explicit language that the moderators had to close the thread down. Geez I thought I was looking at another post on Viperalley.com:crazy:

I vote that Ford gives you a new GT350 to turn a PR nightmare into a PR dream come true... Maybe start a new thread so we can vote that Ford gives you a GT350 for the price you paid for your GT! :)

If they do it, I guess we'll all be having mysterious freeway fires on here :) hehe

they'll not give out 350 for the GT price. But the idea is not too bad. Take the Insurance money, some chemical harm payment and put some bucks on top (if you have some right now) to get an 350. ;)

Rachel, thanks someone has called me already. Hopefully it can get resolved fairly quick.
...
You're welcome, 5ohslow. I'm glad they were able to get in touch quickly.

While we are all happy that nobody was hurt. I'm sure the insurance will take care of this.

Downside: You'll be out of a car for a few months (or less if you find one on the lot)
Upside: If you decide to order from the factory you can change color or options, giving you a second chance.

Hey 5ohslow,

I’m glad to see that you are safe. Your poor Pony! :brokenheart:

I understand your insurance is all over this; I’ve also arranged to have somebody from our Customer Relationship Center reach out to you to document this.

Rachel
Glad to see Ford Service is dealing with this incident. It shows Ford cares about their products and customers.

Guys just to clarify there are 3 posts that I've read over the last day concerning fire with this particular vehicle.

1) on an SVT forum about an interior fire by the seat. This is a completely separate vehicle and owner.

2) there was another thread started by a fb friend of mind who has a 2015 on order and saw my pictures on fb and started the thread here.

3) is the thread u are reading now. Created by me.

Just wanted to clarify

As of now I am are waiting for an investigation.

Thanks for clarifying, and I'm glad you are okay and nobody was hurt. That's got to be frustrating after waiting for so long to buy the car. I'm also glad to hear that the incident is being looked into further. Please let us know how this works out.

Not saying this is it but there is a known issue with a mfg defect being a fire hazard for the '15 model year.

Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
SUMMARY:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford Mustang vehicles manufactured September 25, 2014, to October 9, 2014. The fuel pressure sensor may not have been seated properly to the fuel jumper line, which may cause a fuel leak.
CONSEQUENCE:
A partially seated fuel pressure sensor could cause a fuel odor or a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire in the presence of an ignition source.
REMEDY:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel jumper line, free of charge. The recall began on December 17, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S27.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

I believe that applies to Ecoboost vehicles and the OP has a GT.

You are quick! I was just reading that and was about to update my post.

Any time a mfr makes major changes to a vehicle there are bugs to work out. Burning to the ground is a bit extreme for sure. It's tough to see this happen to someone, especially when I am considering a purchase myself of the same car. Hope we see some answers soon.

I think a good will move to the customer would be a loaner of the same car until they can provide a replacement.

Who says it's the manufacturers fault?
