"That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life, Tom."
Nobody knows for sure at this point, but let's not let them off the hook just yet! :cheers:Who says it's the manufacturers fault?
Ultimately, Ford either manufactured a defect into the car or they did a piss poor job of training their techs. Of course, the dealer might share blame too since they do the hiring. The only other things it could be is sabotage (almost a laughable reason) or the owner was tinkering with something (again, not likely given his account of things). That might leave a road hazard or external unknown cause of some sort which again is unlikely and would make me return to questioning the design of the vehicle.Who says it's the manufacturers fault?
This fire is causing issues for you to order or buy a new '15 Mustang?Ultimately, Ford either manufactured a defect into the car or they did a piss poor job of training their techs. In any case, I will certainly be watching for info on the outcome of this.
If a dozen cars went up in smoke, then yeah I would hesitate to buy one. I am also curious to see what kind of support the customer gets in such a situation. I haven't bought anything yet so my options are wide open. I am not ready to purchase yet but keeping tabs on things. It only makes sense to do so, especially with a new gen vehicle. This fire is causing issues for you to order or buy a new '15 Mustang?
You forgot one of the very plausible scenarios. A dealer tech who was properly-trained maybe just plain fucked up. There's absolutely no point in speculating. So sad to see this happen. The important thing is that you're ok.Just picked my car back up from the dealership for some warranty issues. Driving on the freeway and noticed some white smoke coming from the hood. It progressively got worse so I pulled over into the shoulder. Instinctively thought the car was over heating and it was steam from the radiator. So I proceeded to pop the hood as flames burst from the edges of the hood.
Here's the outcome.
Insurance is going to love me. There were no mods to the car. It had 6k miles.

Wow, What was I thinking, giving an opinion in an Internet forum? no one has ever done that! You forgot one of the very plausible scenarios. A dealer tech who was properly-trained maybe just plain fucked up. There's absolutely no point in speculating. Please stop.
You didn't present it as your opinion, you posited two scenarios that were presented as the only possibly causes for this fire.Wow, What was I thinking, giving an opinion in an Internet forum? no one has ever done that!
I will post what I please, thank you. I have said my piece anyway.
