First let me agree with what the other guys have said, i enjoy reading the posts and learned a lot about the Z28 i didn't already know. Keep up the good work man.

There is just NO defense right now... Just think, if they wouldn't have banned me, they would be getting the S550 exclusives first... Just wait until I start getting 6th Gen details. They are gonna go RIGHT HERE _____________
And of course, I look forward to hearing about _______. That's part of why I'm here. Quick on the trigger and lots of good info.

I agree with the others, good info Pill! I followed the gt500 vs zl1 thread on svtp which was also full of win.

I have heated debates with my father about this stuff. He is very proud of his 2010 SS, and is always making excuses for why my car is faster. He claims its "driver mod" whenever we race lol!

When I heard he was buying a fifth gen he asked that I come and help him pick the car out. I tried to sway him to pick up a boss or a shelby at the ford dealer next door, but he insisted on the camaro. I decided to walk down the street and pick up a 2012 gt off of the showroom floor the same day he bought his car.

How many camaro models does it take to beat the s197?

Lol @ buying the rival cars on the same day.

Yea there's a reason u dont see them as much on the drag strip/track ;) They seem content to throw everything and the kitchen sink at the problem. huge large displacement motors, magnetic suspension, etc. and still a cheaper mustang still "stuck in the past" with its SLA can take it in a straight line and on the track. The only thing that will save them is a huge weight loss.

Thank you readers for your support!!!

I am feverishly working on both S550 and Z28 details. I will be departing for Virginia in a few days. I doubt I will be going to the track however, I am trying to acquire VIR dates for both Ford and Chevy. I also have a few sources on standby at Nurburgring (As some have seen my request on Facebook), they are awaiting the next Industry Pool.

Dates at VIR are very important come July. Both the S550 and Z28 will have their R&D done before the end of fall with a Spring release on said times (If Ford even does at all).

There was an issue between C&D and Ford back in 2010 so, Ford very rarely plays the media game with them anymore.

Here is the latest press release from Ford Racing. You will notice Ford Racing specifically stated the car is eligible to compete in SCCA and NASA. Until you see a statement from Chevy similar regarding the Z28, all your really buying is life size model car. It is completely useless for both ROAD and TRACK... I seen a question once before on why the Z28 didn't have tow hooks... Um.... Because it's not a race car you moron...

A very special thank you to Ford Racing for providing that little statement in your release :)
2013-ford-mustang-boss-302s-585x388.webp

Ford Racing has announced that they are now taking orders for the 2014 Mustang Boss 302S, the factory-built race car that is eligible to compete in a variety of SCCA and NASA classes. This will be the fourth and likely last year the Boss 302S will be produced, with the next generation 2015 Mustang set to debut in the near future.

For the most part the 2014 Boss 302S remains the same, although there are a variety of new colors and extras available. For the first time Grabber Blue (no charge) and Satin Black ($5,995 extra) are available along with Performance White. A BBS wheel package ($2,410), seam welding ($4,500), an an XL Recaro seat ($700) are the available options.

Like in 2011-2013 only 50 Boss 302S models will be made for the year, available to be ordered through Ford dealers using the part number M-FR500-B302S. Production is scheduled for late fourth quarter of 2013, and suggested retail pricing is listed at $89,995.
Another quick shot in the 8==>

You won't be able to do a bolt and go on the Z/28 brakes. They had to develop a brake calibration for that setup specific to the Z/28. That means none of the existing 5th Gen brake calibrations will match the Z/28 hardware.
Fantastic!!! Owners don't even have the option to downgrade to be competitive... What a WASTE and it saddens me that actual Motorsport engineers are working on this car...

The Pill is hard to swallow... It depends... Are you seeking a cure or are you the infectious disease? That ultimate dictates how I go down...

A few things, Stig, I am in your neighborhood. I will meet you at the Outback by Marketplace on Cascade... You can use my phone to Google ALL the rule books. I will buy you lunch (my wife will probably be with me). Your members depend on your moderation but they take your input seriously. If you can't read my thread, and the screenshots I posted of those rules, then you have NO reason to mislead your members by trying to blindly discredit the thread. I will personally tell you what my problem is with your organization.

Fen, Did I not state that the sales of the 5th Gen would drop after the 3rd year? Did I not warn of a refresh? I think you personally called me crazy.... I could be wrong. The production numbers I reported were accurate AND, a lower volume of production naturally equals much smaller sales. They made 76,000 that year and sold 73,000. Even if they sold every single car, they still couldn't outsell the over-produced Camaro...

To Backtotintops... The possibility of a Grand Am Z28 is zero, at least on the OEM level. NASCAR has merged Grand Am with ALMS. ALMS has the 5.5 restrictions on the LS7 as well as CC brakes. Pro racing is out of the question. Besides, this was suppose to be for the people and that would be SCCA and NASA. Remember, this isn't my doin...

So, steak lunch tomorrow and maybe we can stop and look at that '14 GT500 on 7... You'll see I'm not such a Pill after all... and who knows, maybe I can get my Camaro5 membership reinstated ;)

As for my fellow Pony Car fans, still working dates for VIR... I got sidetracked in DC. I have been one of the king's men, might as well see the castle.

Well, C5 has inside reports that the Z28 will be over $70,000 and limited to 300-400 production. Yes, I know that is almost exactly where I put the MSRP and production a few post back. I just can't get the MSRP above $70k with my calculations although, there is some equipment on the car I can't price... Like weight loss components...

I stand firm on $67,000 with exactly 427 produced for 2014.

Since its raining down here in VA, I have completely cleared my schedule (with my wife's approval) for said lunch. I hope the steakhouse opens at noon... If not, you can choose another restaurant.

A Camaro5 member posted a thread in the Z28 section titled "thePill" is hard to swallow (couldn't have titled it better myself). A C5 moderator dwells in the area I'm currently in. He needed some guidance on some of the rule books and there is no better way to get your point across than in person. If anything, it's a free lunch for The Stig. I came down here (leaving the confines of my Grandmothers basement), to see DC and hopefully acquire some testing dates for both S550 and Z28 at VIR.

We actually have a lot in common... Even both our names start with "The"... How coincidental!!!

I do not hide behind an avatar so, in order to clarify everything that is misunderstood... I'm buying lunch...

I quit violence after my decade of service, I'm more business man now. I can't imagine a scenario where I would need to apply Close Quarter Combat techniques to a forum moderator during lunch.

Finally, the truth has set them free... While many believed this '14 Z28 to be a resurrection of the originals, they have all agreed... The Z28 is neither road or track car. "Not intended to compete in a specific series" is far different than "Not permitted in organized racing".

While most were convinced it was SCCA, NASA, Grand Am or ALMS legal, it took a single post to clear things up. If playing by yourself is your thing, and you have money to burn for little or no return... This car is for you.

My point? Chevy can't beat the Boss with any equipment availible. While hopes that it would beat the Boss competitively, reality is, they couldn't do it. Like
I said before and GM confirms... Somebody was chicken... Engineering the Boss around multiple rule books while staying competitive was difficult. The Boss and Z28 would have been nice... But, that faceoff has been avoided. In the spirit of the original? Not so much... It's funny that Mark insist the Z28 has equipment on any RACERS wish list. Every RACERS wish is to race...

While moderators would constantly try to push the idea I was wrong, they didn't even read the press release to see that GM and I were in agreement. They dont read rule books, they dont read press releases... this is where YOU get your info from. Run the Ring, so nobody can dispute your claims... That seems to be the angle for most Camaro's.

Tooth and nail they would rather fight me than read the entire article I screen shot and posted. This is how the uninformed and pure laziness is marketed. Do your own research.

Is the 2014 Z28 like the original? No... The original was a fighter... This Z is a runner for sure. Now, for $70,000 and only 400 built... Are you prep'd to pay that?

I think Chevy should make clear, this thing is NOT permitted just as Ford specifically posted the Boss 302 IS. It's just honesty... Ford Racing specifically put that in their release to make the Z28 look bad. Not being competitive for a performance brand is cute...

Thank you for proving them wrong...
