I'm a drag race kinda guy but I find your posts extremely interesting. The 1LE standings vs GTs and Chevy's marketing of a track ready Z/28 are astounding.

Thanks for the good read. Maybe I'll bump into ya in the future, although the only time I'm at the Beave is for Flashlight Drags (this weekend actually). Home "track" for me is PRP. ;)

J, I need some leeway here... I can't smack them around anywhere else.

Rules:

I won't swear (that much) and I'm sure they won't either.

No race, religion or anything super personal...

...and last but not least, no touching of the hair or face...

You wanted a site J... and thePill LOVES Mustangs...

Ding, ding, ding!!!

In short, lets find a nice medium between SVTP and TMS. We can't ban opinion... If we do, I will leave.

Civil, I promise... There is always the account suspension tool.

I live in Johnstown and I am in Blairsville often. Wolfpack Speed is where I am getting upgrades. Super awesome prior serviceman owns the place...

HAHA no. i can't just come over and hang out. not everyone is a Kool aid drinker. And yes ill hold my "magazine" trophy high until someone comes and takes it. Let me know when that 13 1LE vs 13 Boss goes down.

Oh wait it wont........................................................................Ever!!!

And Who was it that refused to show up to the track with there A game?

:ford: Yup.

Sent in the B-team (GT track pack). The result and I quote

"FORD GOT ITS ASS KICKED"

In other news ill be doing an yet another owner vs owner test in the 1st week of Sep. Quite a few of those have been done on the track. A weird thing keeps happening though, for some reason the magazine results keep repeating themselves .

Now before you all go postal and blow a fuse i came here because i somewhat agreed with some things you've stated in this thread. Some i have no comment on and other stuff i think your ..... All that and the other site has been down for some reason all week and i got bored. ;)

GT and 1LE have been racing all season... Not the same results as posted by magazines. If it can't handle the GT's then it won't do very well vs. a Boss.

Chevy themselves chose to sanction the LE against the GT's so a Boss encounter is highly unlikely. Makes you wonder why...

Ford sanctioned the BASE GT in that class per the rules with very little modifications to the OEM car. The 1LE has identical upgrades to remain competitive in that class. The Brembo GT can't fill the required 18" wheels that are required per regulation.

The Boss is in the Z06 class, it uses a TR6060 I stead of the MT82 due to fluid capacity. Besides, the Z28 was suppose to be the Boss's competition... Not the SS.

What class are you in?

You do know there are 7 GT's in front of the highest ranked LE right? This is on the circuit so, no hiding there. They still need to drop weight before they can keep up with the solid axle, non-Brembo GT. Maybe the 2015 1LE will be better than the ones out now.

I know magazine articles are important but you do realize that Chevy sends Ringers right? Mark R pulled a stunt like that once before with Caddy and an armature M3 driver beat all their entries. They then brought out a "different" CTSV with a pro driver and well... The armature lost. I'll post this later...

The ZL1 was a disaster... They ran an 11.9 and blazed around every track during mag runs. When people actually got them, um... they didn't do any of that. Once, Ford sent out a Cobra that lacked power... They were sued... Why doesn't Camaro enthusiasm care about falsifying claims? I was pissed at Ford even thigh they fixed it... I guess it's a different industry now.

Ummmm quoting professional racing results is kinda pointless when comparing factory cars IMHO and i could not care less. i mean the sun shines on a horses ass every once and awhile. Someone will always be faster. What class am i in? I DON'T CARE ABOUT PRO RACING! I will go to a track day with what i have as is. My coworker and I will go to a track day and enjoy our cars( him less then me after he loses).

Its funny though how you took my comparison on two OEM street legal cars completely ignored it and attempted to turn it into a discussion about race prepped not street legal cars. Perhaps nothing to say on the subject?

Oh, track days... I thought you were classed. In my experience, track days have the most inexperienced drivers. Some are only out to tune or test endurance equipment. Not really a decent measuring tool.

They are fun and pretty stress free. I got most of my teachings from track days. That's where I got confused... I was talking about real racing and not free passing.

Yup ya got me I am a rookie just like 99% of Boss 302 (not 302S or 302R) owners out there. I will be doing track days for fun and to catch up to and "free pass" as many other cars including Boss 302's as i can.

Your whole "assault" is based on comparing two very different things real pro racing (psst............. no one cares) and track days, you know what people who have street legal cars that are bought from the dealership go do.

As far the Z/28 not being legal for any racing class yup you are right! Here's a soggy cookie. That Pill is not hard for me to swallow at all.

The point of the Z/28 escapes 95% of those on camaro 5 and you it appears as well sometimes. It will continue to do so i suspect until they are in the hands of the intended customers. Its true purpose is for the crowd who not only are track day "purist" but also own what are called "Carmahal's". Once they (GM) shows what the car can do I'm sure there will be more than a few parked at the Joilet Autobahn and other similar places around the country.

Those who will want the car for the name plate will find acquiring one to be very difficult if they are not paying cash. That is another point where i agree with some of your argument's among others. I anticipate and hoping for some enthusiast frustration with the fact the they can't have one. Hopefully enough stink is raised as you would suggest to where there will be some trickle down tech in the future models and some very well priced OEM upgrade parts. I got my eye's on the Multimatic suspension system.

Lastly, using pro racing IS a very good way to do some R&D. However what of the Z/28 feature components needs to be vetted? The LS7? NOPE! The current car using a restricted less powerful version of it is in first place in "real racing" remember? Multimatic suspension system? NOPE! everyone who is winning in "real racing" is using it so it must be that good right? CCB's? NOPE! Those work so well that they are "illegal" in "real racing". Besides why spend money on R&D only turn around and build a car that is made to be legal in racing series that restricts other cars so much that it allows inferior cars to be competitive. <-------------Reason no one cares about "Real Racing"

P.S. thank for the inspiration to write all this. not usually an active poster more of a lurker. but i like this game!!!:D

Anyone that would be interested in the z28, would be much more excited about a cheap ls7 camaro. ~$40-45k for 500hp would be great!:hail:

"Super track performance, super limited production, super high price." seems lame...:tsk:

I don't think the 1le is as fast as the magazines say it is. In one test it laid down a lap time only .4 seconds slower than a 458 Italia, and .8 seconds slower than a zr1. That doesn't seem very realistic to me.

http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/willow_springs_-_streets_of_willow.html

Hell that list has the 5.0 gt track pack faster than the boss ls and the corvette grand sport. Also a v6 mustang laid a faster lap than the ford gt. Kinda silly?

But the magazines are always right (as long as your car is winning).

Official racing seems more legitimate and realistic. So because the 1le is not doing very well, official racing doesn't mean squat? What if the 1le was leading that pack of gt's? I'll bet official racing series would be more relevant to camaro fans if that were the case...

Also I haven't seen any real world videos of 1le camaros passing new mustangs on the street let alone the track.

The following videos were filmed in mexico

Against a boss for comparison-
