I'm finally getting my 18x11 square apex wheel set tomorrow and I'm looking for some ideas on what tires to run. This car is my daily driver, I take it to the canyons just about weekly, and I'd like to take it to the track soon--so I'm looking for tires that can do each of those things fairly well.

The apex guide says 315/30 or 305/35 would be ideal for 18x11, but the only options from the guide in stock right now are 315 Nankang CRS or 305 nt01s/r888rs, which probably wouldn't be great for daily use. I've also seen people do 18x11 with 295/35 MPSS, but they are out of stock right now as well.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Goodyear Supercar3. Conti whatever. I have a pile of pirelli DH slicks but I doubt that's going to work too hot for DD. 😁

Since you went to the bother, why cheap out and not be happy with both environments? Dedicate this set to track and use current wheels for DD.

You obviously own a jack and lug wrench...

Continental Extreme Contact Sport is a great daily performance tire and you can get them in 295/35

I agree 100% that would be ideal, but I personally really don't like the look of the oem 20s I'm on right now and would rather have the aggressive wide 18 look. But for sure two sets of wheels is on my list for the future.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Should I go with the normal ECS or the ECS02?

I have the ECS for my summer set but have heard nothing but good things on the ECS02. Sounds like it’s more of an update to the original ECS than a total redesign, so the 02’s might be the way to go.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, I was just looking at the APEX options and was wandering do they need any extra hardware to be mounted or they use the Ford OEM hardware? I don't want to go with any spacers. Also, how does square differ from staggered in your opinion? Apart from saving on the rubber as you can rotate them, do you have any observation how much different grip and stability is from the stock staggered set-up?

I saw recently APEX have a 19x12 option as well. Have you considered those? I'm looking at these for set of track wheels and I just can't make up my mind yet...lol.

I use the 295 xx R18 tires on my 18x11 wheels. I support the conti ECS02 solution. They are lol good for a street tire on my Jetta wagon.

Apex offers different offsets. They do offer front no-spacer 11" wheel offsets in the ET26 range, but I'm personally a fan of running 4 rear wheel offsets with extended front studs and slip on bolt-through spacers for a secure fit with wheels you can rotate front/rear. Apex has a great mustang fitment guide if you have more questions.

The staggered wheels are not as significant as the staggered TIREs you might run, so how much the car will understeer with staggered tires depends on your existing setup (does it already understeer a little), and the tire widths you intend on running. I have a set of 18x11 fronts w/ 18x12 rears, but I run square 315 tires front and rear, so it doesn't understeer and my car has a lot of things to tune under/oversteer balance.

Curious why don't you go 19 to clear brembos?

18" Apex wheels clear Brembos just fine.
oops been researching new rims and thought you'd need 19x9.5 minimum for brembos

? Why ? Stock front PP wheel that has been on these cars forever is 19x9", ET45. Moreover just about any 19" Ford wheel (8.5" wide too) clear them (calipers are basically unchanged since '15 other than color here and there).
There is bunch of 18" sized wheels that clear them.

GT350 Brembos are a different story.
