Hello all -

I have been a camaro guy all my life...well these GT350's really have my attention.

I have tracked down a few GT350's..for the most part the 17s around here are listed at MSRP with no ADM markup. I'm really drawn to the 17 because of the new standard features that were once options on the 16. Is it worth these additional upgrades to stick with the 17 over the 16s? I'm not going to track the car, weekend fun toy.

Id not get a 16 Tech pack. A 16 track is up to you. The 17s have more standard but the price went up accordingly.

Base 2017 and a Track pack 2016 are the same exact car, there were very very few 2016 true base cars so it's not likely you would get your hands on one anyway. I would get the 2017 car of choice or 2016 track pack car, even without track use the cooler debacle with 2016 tech pack cars might deter future buyers if you ever intend to resell the car.

How do I know if the 16 has the track package? Does this include the trans and diff cooler?

I like to disassemble things.
It'll have Recaro seats, the trans/diff coolers, larger spoiler (than a "Tech" spoiler), a lousy radio with a 4" screen, etc.

Yes, if it has the track pack spoiler in the back ( larger spoiler) it has the track package. It does include transmission, and diff cooler, and magna ride suspension ( which I believe some of the tech pack do not, could be wrong here).

Do yourself a favor and get a track pack, 2016. Cheaper, just as good as a tech pack 2017. The sound system and GPS in any Ford is horrible anyway...

All of the 16s in my search area are either A) non track packs or B) more expensive than some of the 17s!

A base 2016 will have a tiny rear spoiler, recaros, and a mute button on the steering wheel instead of a shock symbol. Tech will have leather sofas in front, big nav screen, and the same small rear spoiler. Track will have recaros, tiny stereo screen, and a big rear spoiler.

Track gets transmission and rear diff cooler. While I haven't had any issues myself in my base, I'd only get a track 2016 given the expense if you discover your car wants to cook off the transmission in your driving. A pure base like mine... currently only makes sense if you are looking for a future race car. One where you are tossing the suspension in the roundfile anyway and going to be ordering a spare transmission anyway to go with the custom coolers.

2017 or up is the way to go IMHO, for sure. For me, even if the radio "isn't the best" with the larger touch screen, I just simply wouldn't want to pay that much for a car and have the tiny little screen that comes with the Track Pack cars. If you were using it primarily for track use, the tiny screen wouldn't matter much. But as a weekend/evening cruiser, I would bet a fair bit of the time will be spent with the radio on... and having a much larger touch screen with dual zone climate control and navigation etc. is a huge plus.

And FYI, the sound system is just as good if not better than I had in my Mercedes. I'm no audiophile for sure, but it certainly isn't a bad sounding system.

2017 Electronics package if you want the Recaros, 2017 Convenience Package if you want the "sofa" seats that have heating/cooling and are power adjustable. If you can find a car to sit in with Recaros and find them comfortable, get them, as they are amazing.

Good luck with the search, and welcome to the dark side

Your best bet is to get a '17 or later.

If you must, make a low ball offer on the '16 if it's not a Track Package.

Tell them you know it will cost about $3,500 in parts (+labor if you're not at least a shade tree mechanic) to upgrade the transmission/trans cooler, plus another undetermined amount to add the differential cooler kit FP has verbally confirmed they will be offering in the future.

If you read through this forum, you'll see GT350's, without the transmission cooler, can enter into limp mode while driving on the streets. Trans and diff coolers are not only for track or performance purposes: they are, IMHO, essential to a safe vehicle. Not all GT350s without the coolers enter limp mode but you need to consider making a commitment to these upgrades if your '16 does.

There is a black 17 with 62 miles ont it for 59,870. Carfax says first owner was commercial and owned in Canada for 25 days, 2nd owner is the dealer in Indiana. Not sure what to make of that.

There is a lightning blue 17 with white strips with 2,300 miles for 60k.

You said NEW 17's are available local for msrp, why even look at used for the
same price ? I bought my 17 Tom Wood, Indy for a couple hundred below
msrp, get that negotiating tongue out and you should be able to do better than I did !
Also, buying used you lose out on track attack, if that interests you....

This car drew me into the Ford family as well, welcome. The engine is awesome and the sound is incredible especially with some exhaust mods. I agree with the others that a '17 is a better bet as well. Congrats and enjoy!
