Why so many used ones for sale?

Based on what I've seen from this forum, I bet around half of the used market is made up of either '16 Tech Pack owners, who decided they wanted the extra coolers of the Track Pack, so traded in on a '17 or '18. Or GT350 owners who wanted to get the GT350R, and also traded in.

The rest are your typical "gotta have the latest sports car, then flips it when bored" or simply found the GT350 no longer fit their personal life needs for whatever reason. Then I think there's a smaller minority who had issues with their specific car and just didn't want to deal with it any more.
seems like there are many great deals on the used 16's with either one of the packages... the used 17s still seem to be holding mid $50's, but still some great buys to be had as well! i dont know what the future holds with the gt500 as well as beyond that, but it would take a HECK of a car and a ridiculous deal to pry my hands away from my 350

Yeah 16s are out there for 50k, but I keep shying away from them. Must have the coolers, but want the electronic package as well..... Used 17s are 53k to 57k with 5000 or less miles. I am also seeing dealers who just got their 18s in drop the new in stock 17s to $3100 off MSRP. My looking has been limited to about a 250 mile radius around Chicago.

Yup, it's not only '16 Tech Pack owners who traded. Many R owners on this board were also previous Track Pack owners. Some '16 Track Pack owners may have also wanted the electronics pkg of the '17, I've seen at least one person who did this trade on the Facebook owner's page. There are even some who just wanted a different color.

For whatever reason, there seems to be a fair number of owners who simply went from one form of the GT350 to another form of the GT350/R. Not something I've seen as much when comparing other cars, which typically get traded when the owner gets bored and/or wants the next latest and greatest.

I'm sure there will be even more used GT350s entering the market once the new GT500 arrives.

If I was buying used I'd be willing to pay more for a one-owner, low mileage car all day long.. I know for me, my mileage is "spirited driving" and about zero highway miles. :) But since it's mine, I am not killing it at every red light, using line-lock for youtube video's, and it's pampered and respected even while I'm pushing it. Some guys that know they are selling will treat the car like a rental. ;)

Also if I knew the history of the car VS one that's been sitting at a dealership lot for a while. I saw one recently that has been sitting for a few months and the car had 200 miles put on it ("test drives"?) while it sat in the used lot! But I know for some it's all about getting what they want as cheap as they can to fit their budget.

It will be interesting to follow the Market from an owners perspective being that I have no plan on selling for a decade (or two). Now that the Flat Plane Crank motor is being discontinued it seems like others would want to jump in now while they can still get a new or low mileage one.

Long time BMW guy and M owner as well. I bought the 16 350 and the car is everything you loved about the M cars and more! I did buy tech pack and was concerned with the cooler issue, so I traded and just took delivery of the 1 2018 that my local dealer is getting. Awesome car! This blows away the M4 and the M2 imo. Think 911 for 61K!!! Get a 17 or 18 if you can, best of both worlds for track and dd
