Worst car I ever owned was a Honda Accord. Pure junk.

Myself and my kids all have Honda/Acura... To the contrary they have been bulletproof with well over 100K miles.

Those aren't contradictory, just different experiences. There are POSs of every mass produced vehicle. Some more than others. But since there is no fool proof way of finding out the percentage of each, the best thing is to treat our experience as the norm and make future purchases accordingly. That's also the best way to reward/punish bad product. If a model has one dud in a thousand, someone not buying another has little impact (as it should). If its one dud out of 10, someone not buying another take a bite out of sales.

2015 GT with 35k miles. Back up camera was acting up, dealer fixed it under warranty. Intake manifold went out. Fixed it myself. The runner control inside the manifold wouldn't fully open and threw a CEL.

Sorry that you're dissatisfied with your car, but I think you have to define "fairly common" to determine if you have reason to be upset. Yes, there is a lot of chatter online about these issues in the forums, but if you look at reliability reports from organizations that actually track statistics these cars are relatively reliable compared to the competition. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've owned mine for the better part of two years now with nary an issue. Everything works as designed, and since I do my own preventive maintenance the car has never been back to the dealer since I bought it.

So, I have had my car for less then 2 1/2 years. Coming from a family of Japanese and German cars, I was the first to get an American car. All I have to say is my dad was pretty spot on in terms of the issues I would deal with. I can't remember the last time anyone in my family has had to take their cars in for warranty work. As for me, I'm tired of it to the point where I'm done. Once I trade in this car later this year, Ford has put me off buying another one of their vehicles. It also doesn't help that my experiences have never been stellar when it comes to the Ford dealerships service centers, and I have been to many. Whats crazy is many of my issues seem to be fairly common. My front bumper was replaced just recently. The issues with it coming loose due to the poor design seems to not be uncommon from my research. What's worse is I think there are many who have resorted to fixing it on their own because some dealerships aren't approving the repair, when there is a plethora of evidence online showing that this isn't an isolated problem. My ac stopped working, and I had the evaporator core tsb fix done. There is a huge thread about this issue on this forum. And now after a few weeks it has stopped working again. So I gotta take another day to go to the dealership and get this handled, most likely will take a couple of days to fix. The cooled seats I'm supposed to have have never worked properly, there is also a long thread about this and the TSB for it from Ford apparently does nothing. The car started to creak and squeak within about a few months of ownership and sync3 has a habit of disconnecting my phone every now and then for no reason. Even something I thought was silly but cool, the pony projection light, I've had to take that in to have fixed because at one point it was just projecting a blob. I'm just tired of it all. As much as I love the car and working on it, I think Ford needs to seriously up their quality. I'm not expecting the finish and detail of a Porsche, I get that this is a value performance car, but I don't wanna have to worry about my AC going out every few months. I guess this second time it went out was just the last straw for me, it is what is is. End of rant.

Edit: I should clarify based on some of the responses that my intention here wasn't to trash Ford and say Japanese and German cars don't have issues at all. I just wanted to share my personal experiences and frustrations through the ownership of this car. Many may relate, many may not. I was frustrated with the fact that most of the issues I've dealt with seem to be very common and Ford hasn't been the best in acknowledging or addressing them.

I'm sorry to hear what you're going thru. I'm in my third Mustang and have not had those kind of issues. I had an 89 5.0 and beat the crap out of it with no problems. Then I had a 99 SVT convertible. Same thing. You must have got a bad one.

I think every car company has their share of problems like yours. Just check out the Corvette forum, and GM's problems with their ever so wonderful POS A8 transmissions in the 15-17 GM cars and trucks. Of course it isn't every vehicle that has problems, and it's probably a small percentage that does have problems. But, if you're one of those than owns a problem vehicle it just doesn't matter the count. Good luck OP, I hope your next buy is a better vehicle.

This is my first American car since my first car, a 68 cougar. Before this I've pretty much been an import guy ever since the cougar. Loved my Honda's and my last car was a little huyndai which didn't cause me many issues either. I hope my mustang doesn't cause me too many issues but that being said, I didn't buy it because of Ford's proven reliability... I bought it because this drivetrain is a true work of art and insane amounts of fun!

I guess if one paid 40 or more, it might be more of a comparison, but if you are like me and just wanted it fast,
not sure what else out there you are getting for 30 grand that even comes close. This is about 3 grand more
than I paid for my 14, (which was also base GT with auto as only option), which is a smoking deal considering the upgrades.

I am with those that agree about quality issues with domestics -- but qualify their position when you take into account the cost of repairing Euro Cars.

We've owned a number of Euro Cars over the years...Beemers, Saabs and others and love the cars when they are running well. That said, you'll miss your domestic cars the first time something fails. It ain't cheap.

Our daily drivers are now a Ford pickup and an Infiniti SUV. The pickup has had one problem in its 5 years (a failed 4x4 xfer case fixed on warranty) and the Infiniti has so far (only 11k miles) been flawless.

Just the same, after 50+ years of owning and driving everything from an Austin Healy roadster to an Alfa Romeo Coupe to Domestic and Japanese pickups, I've come to the conclusion that no automobile is infallible. That 3 pointed star (or a Blau mit Weis roundel) on the grille/hood means nothing when it's 20k miles out of warranty and the head gasket starts leaking.

I hope you find the perfect car...but my experience tells me you probably won't.

The AC issues are caused by a faulty evaporator from a supplier and covered under warranty. Mine has been in twice for the AC issues as have most 2015-2017 Mustangs.

They maybe faulty from a supplier but Ford knowing it's an issue should pay a few more pennies to have a more robust build by the suppliers. Nobody wants to buy a new tight, squeak free vehicle only to have the dash ripped out to replace a defective evaporator, heater core or blend air door and hope for a quiet vehicle with no scratches after.
