I had transmission issues for 3 years. They finally did a TSB and part of it was valve body work. It took three years, but now I am happy with the shifts.

Thanks Richard - what is TSB , did you go to a transmission specialist or Ford warranty work. Mine stays in 1st and 2nd so to long it revs then finally jerks up a gear. Quite disappointed car has done it from start

I have complained about my 10R80's poor shift from 1-2, 2-3. Extreme Transmission Flare, random delayed shifts after a slow down and re-acceleration and the first shift of the day always acting like it was slipping. Again, extreme flare. It has been very frustrating to say the very least knowing there is a problem and being told, no codes, all is well. Ford did TSB 21-2357 after taking my car in numerous times complaining. That TSB also covers harsh shifts.

sorry I am new to Mustangs- what is a Cobb Stage 1 ICT 91 is it a transmission kit ? As I said I have no idea. Just 1st and 2nd stays in gear to long then tough jerk shift up. A friend has and Audi it is so smooth it feels like an electric car you can’t tell my car is as new
Cobb is a tuner for your car. It comes with standard tunes based on what bolt-ons you have on your car. You can also get custom tunes made for your car. It does void warranty if you're concerned about that. But it made my transmission feel completely different. I've had it a little over a month now and I'm happy with the results.

Cobb is a tuner for Ecoboost motors, not the V8. There are a number of good tuners for our motor if you want to go that route. But as mentioned a few times you most likely has a serviceable issue. Get your car to the dealer and take it from there.

By the way, TSB is Technical Service Bulletin. Informs dealers solutions to known issues.

The "warranty void" topic is subjective, but I'll just add the below for you.

Your Powertrain Warranty should not be "void" for a transmission issue just because you have a supercharger now. If the "problem" that you're going in for Warranty Repair is not and cannot be directly correlated to or associated with an ENGINE modification (or ANY other modification), they can't deny you Warranty work. The Service Center would have to prove that your ENGINE mod was the direct cause of the transmission failure (or XYZ trans problem). Some shops are more lenient and know this, others of course will see a supercharger and tell you they're not even going to look at the car...

---

A Ford TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. This document is distributed to Ford Service Centers informing them of known issues and solutions. TSB/SAM/HSB's are available in Ford OASIS (USA) and Ford ETIS (Outside USA). If the car is still under the new car 3/36 or the 5/60 Powertrain (or an ESP), the TSB would be fixed without cost to the customer. If the 3/36, 5/60 or ESP has expired due to years or mileage (whichever comes first), the Customer has to pay for the TSB repair, as they wouid for any other repairs after warranty expiration OR what is not covered by a warranty.

----

So if you're seeking 10R80 info, here's the thread you want which is ALL 10R80 resources to date. Go to Post 1, Page 1, and scroll down into it. There is a link provided for all of the 10R80 TSB/SSM's. Once you go to that TSB link, the most current TSB for 10R80 harsh shifts is TSB 21-2357 (print that one for your Trans shop).

I definitely don’t like sport mode the way it down shifts so aggressively every time u touch the breaks. I’m always downshifting with the paddles tho. Which is ok I guess but it could be better. Definitely shifts fast tho.

Have you tried a simple KAM reset? Mine used to feel like I was hitting a wall in sport on downshifts. A kam reset fixed it.

Warranty or not, I'd ask your dealer to flash the latest gearbox software updates. Several owners here in the UK reported shifting issues and these were resolved with the latest software. Good luck!
