As posted in another thread, earlier this year I ordered Carbon2Carbon's R rear wing. Although delivery took a few months, I received regular e-mail notification from the company and was able to plan accordingly. C2C was also sensitive to my concerns about packaging, since it seems that most packages arrive at my house pretty beat up. Their packaging was tops among the wide variety of stuff I see - high quality box, strapping instead of just tape, extensive "fragile" markings on all sides, and focused use of foam blocking to support the wing inside. The box arrived with a few minor bumps and wrinkles, as well as one hole punched in it, but nothing that intruded into the spaces occupied by the wing. Kudos to C2C for going the extra mile on their packaging!!!
Impressions on the wing is that it is crazy light - can't weigh more than a few pounds, if that. The orientation of the carbon cloth is visually pleasing and the high gloss clear coat is awesome. There is some minimal orange peel, but way less than on the car itself as delivered from Ford. The pads where the wing will sit on the trunk lid have a thin layer of high-density foam to act as a seal and the underside of the wing ends appears to have small weep holes - presumably to combat against condensation. The hardware is good, but I'm not a fan of the bright zinc coating, so will likely replace the bolts or just clean the zinc off them and paint them body color. Finally, C2C included some cardstock paper templates (two) for locating the points to be drilled on the trunk lid.
As for the trunk lid, I purchased a used lid from a wrecked GT performance pack car (i.e., no factory spoiler) with only 6,000 nice weather miles, so no corrosion worries. My plan is to make sure that lid fits my car properly, drill the holes, then paint it at a friend's body shop - with his assistance to make sure we match the finish on the factory clear coat.
For now, my plan is to leave the wing clear as-is, but we'll see how it ends up when finally mounted on the car. More pics to come when the project is finished.
