So my transmission popped (lost 6th, random). I ordered the T56 Magnum XL along with driveshaft and Exedy 700 clutch from BBR and am looking for some information on the install. Does anyone with experience installing this tranny know if a TOB shim will be necessary with the new transmission/clutch setup? And also, in previous model years I have seen posts from others regarding issues with bell housing alignment. Is this still an issue with this kit and if so what is recommended for ensuring proper alignment? I already blew one transmission, I want to make damn sure I do this one 100% right.

No laughing gas actually, just a Paxton lol it didn't like the long 5th gear pull and a 5/6 shift at 7k. I got a good 3 laps in at Auto Club and I blew up on the straight. Time for an upgrade :headbang:

the limp wristed MT82 is the reason I went with an A6 with my 2016, my 2011 was an M6 and it needed rebuilt with less than 20k miles, which Ford refused to warranty, it started acting a little funky again, so I traded it in, anyone brave enough to use a power adder with an MT82 should have $6k put asided for a T56

Any companies beefing up the MT-82 like the T5 in the old fox-bodies?
I'm interested in going that route this time around than buying a complete aftermarket tranny if possible.
Cheaper and lighter.
I believe Geforce used to rebuild the T5's bringing their torque rating from 300 to 500+

I believe Ben Calimer and Rev Auto are rebuilding the MT-82 and beefing them up. I hear Ben does great work I just have no confidence in that tranny anymore.

What are you going to do with the M82 now that you have the new tranny?

Revolution Automotive rebuilt my MT82 in my 2011 last February, felt and shifted phenomenally, but it was still a weak transmission that cant take a lot of power

it has an engine!
If you must go magnum xl get it from rockland standard gear, itll be called magnum xl tranzilla. Its the only way to go. Youll break a standard magnum xl. The standard xl's that handle any power is upgraded and some got faceplated. Faceplated is not very streetable. However faceplating an xl is not nearly as strong as an rsg magnum xl tranzilla.

Itll cost about 7500 for a full swap with clutch, driveshaft and the new trans mounts etc.

Possibly rebuild it and sell it or just sell it to someone that wants to rebuild it. Or maybe a coffee table lol open to offers!

The mt-82 rebuild from ben is like 2500 for his beefed up rebuild but itll break eventually. However it is a nice bit stronger then stock but it doesnt hold a candle to tranzillas. Tranzilla is what nelson racing uses in his big block builds. I did the leg work in researching this. I cant find a manual to handle the power where i want to go and the r680 isnt nearly strong enough even beefed up. Ive decided on a th400 swap with a manual valve body. But for almost everyone here that wants a 800-1200whp manual the tranzilla is perfect for them.

what part failed? A sync?
I haven't opened it up, but my assumption is that 6th gear completely broke. 1-5 work fine and I can actually still drive the car, but being in 6th is the same as neutral. It's the 5 speed conversion :D
