GT Oil Pressure Fluctuations

First, before all hell brakes loose, I've checked threads and can't find a related thread. That's probably not good.
My Oil Pressure Gauge on cold start reads 80 psi. After brief warmup, idle goes to just above 20 psi. At around 2k it's 35 psi. At 3k 60 and 4k 80. Then, back down to 20 at idle. Oil level checks out and no other problems. Is anyone else experiencing similar flucuations? Thanks

My readings are in line with yours. Fluctuation caused by engine idle speed.

I thought I had read this somewhere but forget where. The Oil Pressure gauge may be tied to engine RPM only and not a true pressure gauge. I know my Mazda MX5 was that way. Disappointing to find out, but typical cost savings move I guess.

Feel much Better

What's weird is I talked in person yesterday with Service Manager at dealer and he looked at me like I had two heads. Had no idea what I was talking about. It's as if they've never serviced a Coyote before. Very strange.

Sounds like normal operation to me. When cold the oil has more viscosity so pressure will be higher. When warmed up pressure will drop and will also follow engine RPM's.

I've never owned a car that held a static oil pressure. I'm not sure what the concern is?

Mine is within those parameters that you described as well. Nothing to be alarmed about unless it changes.

I wasn't referring to a static pressure. Of course pressure will fluctuate with oil temp/viscosity/rpm. I was concerned about a 60+ psi fluctuation.

You really shouldn't put a lot of stock in the factory gauges, I seriously doubt there is an 60 psi swing. 80 psi seems way out of kilter to me.

Normal for all the cars I have owned over the past 40 years. There is a pressure relief spring in the pump that will limit the highest pressure you see at cold start up or it would likely be higher.

The old hot rodders rule of thumb is 10 psi for each 1000 rpm. These days engines are designed to run much lower.

I wondered the same thing as mine jumps all the way to max at cold start.
