Glad to see they are being attentive and taking care of it. Hopefully the original engine is good to go.

Makes you think what would happen if on track and this happened. Maybe lock the rear wheels and spin off or more likely the aluminum bell housing would crack and let the bolt through.

Dealership stuff is very hit or miss on Carfax from what I've seen.

I would definitely ask if they could reimburse you for the month's car payment if you've been without it for that long.

Looks like the tech/base have the oil cooler pipes in its transmission case casting. Good to see as might be easy to add the cooler given that.

This is a huge mechanical repair that will appear on the Carfax history. If it was a 2016, I'd request a new car. With 53 miles, I don't want any wrenching done under that hood unless it was my own. It's unfortunate, but your out of a car a full month or more and they aren't doing anything special for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I spoke with Ford Customer Service today and they were very understanding of my situation and put me through to my regional rep to discuss doing something for me. I will hear back tomorrow and let you guys know. Playing it cool can go a long way.

In addition, I have owned 3 SVT Cobra's(99,01and 03), a 14 GT500, both an SVT and ST Focus, 2 Focus sedans and currently own an F150, Focus Platinum Fastback and the GT350.

I would hope to have a bunch of Ford Goodwill in the bank.....Steve

If there is no damage to the engine, then I would prefer to keep the original and that is what they are going to do. We have the second motor just in case......Steve
I understand why you want the born with engine, but it's already lost the born with transmission, a factory warranty replacement engine and transmission should not take away value.

I would OPT for new replacements.

That's a good sign hopefully it's worth it. Hopefully cash in the bank. I wouldn't settle for free service or Ford credit.

So, you would expect ford to pay you cash?

That's what I said. Some money back in my bank for the month+ with out the car and the depreciation from showing the mechanical failure on Carfax. I'd really expect a new car being that it has 53 miles. Ford credits would be useless to me since I don't use the dealer for anything but warranty work.

I like to disassemble things.
This is a bit puzzling.

I'd venture to guess that each one of those bolts has pre-applied thread locker, typically near the end opposite the bolt head. So if the bolt was installed most of the way but not torqued, I could see it coming loose over time but not after only 53 miles.

The fact that the bolt was in there means it most likely wasn't simply laying at the bottom of the bell when someone picked it up and joined it to the engine assembly.

Makes you wonder just how much vibration the assembly is seeing.

I wouldn't want this on my carfax. Is there any recourse if that happens?

ask the dealer and ford to keep off of carfax, you are being calmer then I would. Maybe a extra set of tires for dealing with it.

Wow, lucky you were sitting at a stop light idling when the engine seized! Holy cow, can you imagine if that bolt would have locked against the flywheel at 8,000 rpm and 50 mph?

Yikes!
