Strange Lugnut issue on 2021 MUSTANG GT

Who says the gorillas suck? I thought they were great and had zero issues regardless of weather conditions. Factory lugs on my 22 were solid and not covered with tin caps. Not sure if it was due to being a 401A Premium.

Yes, they are pricy, not as pricy as some but not cheap either. And every lug nut is also a lock. Not just 4, all twenty.
When I bought them my Mustang was my DD. I drove it to work in downtown Atlanta where it wasn't unusual for it to sit in a public parking garage for up to 16 hours a day and often overnight. Now I know no wheel lock is going to stop a determined thief but twenty should slow them down and my goal was to make messing with my car less attractive that another car in the building.
I have been quite happy with them. They show very little wear and no rust at all.

Neither the stock lugs or the gorilla lock set ever saw an impact wrench. Only hand tight the torqued to spec with a nice clicking wrench.

Hi Jeremy, this is all very good advice from our Mustang friends. My car came with a mix of faux chrome lug nuts and real ones; whoever came up with this lame setup ought to be.... well you know, send back to school.
Get rid of those faux lugnuts asap; I had a really hard time getting mine off and had to get out the hammer and chisel
I got what I believe was a quality replacement set from AM and am very happy with them

I got lucky (in a way) when the lug nuts on my 16 failed. The techs at my dealership said they could get me a replacement OEM set but they were expensive and would just fail again. They suggested going aftermarket. I got a set of Gorillas from CJ (they have a warehouse here, so got them in 48 hrs). I took them to the dealer techs, they gave a thumbs up, finished rotating the tires, and installed them no charge.

I bought Gorilla one piece chrome and have had no problems. After 3 years they still look like new.

I had zero problems with my original capped nuts over several rotations and wheel changes in my driveway. The one time I take it to a shop for an alignment, it gets returned to me with 5 lug nuts fudged up--all on one wheel! Clearly had a different guy on each side--one who took care, and another who didn't give a $#!t. Eventually got some aftermarket wheels that came with a set of Gorillas.

My point is, the factory lugnuts can be fine, if you take care and use proper sized hand tools. My Fusion is still on the original set at 275k miles.

Pics or it didn't happen. They look and feel solid when new, they don't seem cheap, but if you're a gorilla with the power tool they will wear out and start to separate. None of the mustangs come with good lugs, pretty sure they all use the same chrome looking lugs.

I never wore my set out and changed tires plenty of times, but I did upgrade them after not all that long.

That was my thought, too. Ford probably didn't decide to give premium cars better lug nuts, or even offer them as an upgrade.

Nope - my car was premium, had the same two piece lugs. They also put those on F150s, even higher trim levels.
