How is oil life calculated and do I need to change it?

I typically change mine between 3k-4k miles. I daily mine though. One thing I've always been told is fluids are cheaper than parts. So just change the oil. Lol. Change em all. Here's a pic of my front end.

It's good enough for me. I have started going by the oil analysis monitor from now on. Once it hits the 15-20% marker, I change it when I am next available to do so. Used Blackstone Labs to try out various oil change intervals, and wear rates were still consistent at #/1,000 miles. With the oil monitor, I'll get around 8500 to 9500 miles, depending on how I drive. Looks like it's set to be good for out to 10,000 miles, as long as you drive "ideally."

The lie-o-meter. I changed in the fall and the car sat all winter and come spring it's telling me to change the oil. Car never moved an inch and my ran for 20 minutes

I changed the coolant and thermostat, oil and filter a couple weeks ago and today I changed the transmission fluid because my brake in period was done. I installed a new Calimer stage two transmission with the RXT Mcleod twin disc ceramic clutch and aluminum flywheel and stainless braided hydraulic line in April. I guess the Differential will be next, it has 36K on it. I only reset the oil life for the hell of it because I change my oil and filter at 3500 miles.

I just changed mine today, PUP 5W-30 with a can of Ceratec. I do it before storage in the late fall and then again in mid-driving season. It was only at 2,500 miles this time. Meter said 28% left.

I have seen so many independent studies on oil additives and the bottom line is that none of them are going to help with reducing engine wear and many of them cause the oil to break down sooner due to chemicals attacking the protective properties in the oil. Every study said you are better off changing oil at regular intervals with good quality synthetic or synthetic blend oils and the harder you use the engine the sooner you should change the oil. I never use an additive and I won't ever use them.
