Just chiming in to say I've got play in my water pump pulley and have been hearing what I believe is a bad bearing randomly for a bit now.

I'm starting to not be surprised by things dying earlier than they should on my Ford! :)

Better than a fuel pump dying at 73k. Was going 75mph at the time and she just quit, 21gt 6spd.

The S550 water pump failures with low miles is common…. The factory water pump had a plastic impeller…. Usually it’s the impeller that is failing before the bearing failing.

IIRC, there are S550 pumps available with a metal impeller which will last much longer than the factory unit.

The 95-99 BMW E36 M3’s had the same problem… plastic water pump impellers from the factory that failed prematurely and their aftermarket produced the same upgraded pump with a metal impeller.

It’s cost savings for the vehicle manufacturer on a mass scale, but can be a future costly repair for the vehicle owners…

I've seen some other posts about this failure. I've been around coyotes for a minute and all my pals have been as well, just never seen an impeller issue. Not saying it doesn't happen, just haven't seen it. Usually a seal issue and dripping out of the weep hole is all I've seen. Was this like a gen1 issue or something like that?
