Hello all,

As the title states, I'm a little disappointed with the Whipple Stage 2 supercharger.

It doesn't have the down-low punch I was expecting. Honestly, it seems to drive like stock until I get over 4000rpms or so.

It's making boost, no CEL, everything is hooked up correctly & I'm running the Whipple tune.

I'm just really underwhelmed, I expected 700whp to feel more powerful. Should I look into an aftermarket tune?

I have HP Tuners and I know it has that capability but I'm not sure how to do that.
Go to this icon on the app and follow instructions. Massively easy. You can’t break anything so don’t worry 😉

Thank you! So I just drive around like normal? Sorry for the stupid questions I've just never done this before.

also, I thought the Whipple made it's power down low, Instant, aggressive low-end torque. yeah there might be something a tad off....

Yep. Drive around like normal. The only time you would not, is if your tuner told you to do something specific, in a certain gear.
but do this….
Start data log up (hopefully at a stop light) and try to go through gears at least up to 5th.
I wouldn’t burn the tires, but I’d try and be a tad aggressive so your tuner can see what’s going on when you send the log.
got it?

I thought so as well but I read other people say it drives like stock at low rpm so im not sure. It's the gen 6 3.0L blower so im assuming it needs to wind up to build boost.

It would be better with an mvpi and hptuners vcmscanner. You can choose the channel list and view the log yourself or post here for others to review. You’d need to log rpm, pedal position, timing, lambda, cam positions, throttle position, load, speed, and a few more. Often times the pre chosen channel list has extraneous channels that just take up bandwidth and don’t add anything useful to diagnostics. It wouldn’t hurt to get vct schedule, spark source, fuel source, torque source.

If you sense a problem at wot below 4000 rpm, then that’s what you’d want to log. I wouldn’t learn much from 30 minutes of cruising down the interstate.

Drives like stock at low throttle input, not low rpm. This isn’t a centrifugal. That said, if Whipple is still tuning like they used to they start the spark timing very low and let knock advance feed it in. You may be sensing this. You can add more “borderline” spark timing if you’re confident in your fuel octane and the initial torque floor will be noticeably better.

I can definitely log that data. I'd take the car out today but it's unfortunately 45 degrees & raining.

Once the weather gets better ill do some data logging.

I have no experience with tuning, or adding FI to a car that did not have it. So I'll refrain from more technical comments. I'm assuming you get best performance on 93, good temps and all the usual.

You're going to be more traction limited than you already were, on a heavy car that requires a lot of torque to "feel quick" (especially at slow speeds), and if you drive with TC on it is going to intervene more than ever. I refuse to drive with TC on now in my GT500 for this reason.

Not sure what tires you are running, but anything that helps the car actually use all the torque is now the main limiting factor. 4400 RPM is basically peak torque on the 5.2L Predator as well. You get the biggest "gut punch" doing a rolling hit at 4400. Tires (MT SS) now allow me to do that in 1st gear as opposed to 2nd or 3rd so I'd suggest (if you have not already) changing tires.
