Who switched their 10R80 10 sp auto transmission to TR3160/Tremec 6 sp manual? What would you do differently?

I have a STOCK ENGINE 2022 MACH 1 and I got Ford to replace the transmission under warranty at just under 10,000 miles. 10,000 miles later on 2nd trans and they’re telling me it needs a new transmission and it is not under warranty. I do every 5,000 mile a drain and fill of the Ford Mercon ULV transmission fluid, IN ORDER TO TRY AND KEEP THIS HORRIBLE TRANSMISSION WORKING.
knowing even if they replace it again under warranty, it’s just gonna sh*t the bed again in another 5 to 10,000 miles.

I am trying to figure the most logical way to stop all the transmission issues. Some of my options seem to be buy another 10 speed transmission even though the transmission tech at the Ford dealer said it’s a pile of crap that can not truly be fixed. He says he would not put any more money into a 10R80 transmission or buy another, which at this point, I agree with!
Switch it over to a manual transmission?
I know my 2021- 23 MACH 1 came with the option of the TREMEC 6 speed MAN. I would think that that should be an easy swap, but costly.
Another mechanic said I should just buy another wrecked Mach 1 with the manual in it and swap that over and then resell the junk/salvaged car.
Would the 2024 on TREMEC Dark Horse transmission also fit my 2022 Mach 1?
i have tried asking the Parts Dept at a Ford dealer these questions about parts and he spends a half hour just trying to figure out 1 part and what seems like it should be a quickly answered question or just tells me there’s no way for him to know.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPERIENCES AND KNOWLEDGE?
Thank you.

What transmissions would be a great choice to put in this car?
GT 500
GT 350?
2024 and newer DARK HORSE TREMEC?
Somthing else?
THANK YOU.

The 3160 should fit in your Mach1. The GT350/R uses the same transmission. Also, I thought the Mach1 also used the 3160.

pluses and minuses?
Are you keeping the horrible 10R80 trash can/clutch container, valve body, P3 gear, torque converter, the case, etc.?
Side poat?

Dark Horse, GT350/R and Mach all use the TR3160. You would need harnesses, PCM, etc. in addition to the transmission itself.

No sequential is completely another trans. Is not auto. Is only paddle shifting or lever. It is a manual with straight gears that u can upshift and downshifting without clutching. (Expect for when u go from neutral and 1st)
It is a big project. And mainly track oriented.

What i would do if I was you?
Get the new 10speed in. and sell the car.
And get a manual. If is mainly a daily.

However 10speed can be improved.
I raced with it.
It is solid once u understand how to make it work properly.

What is the most miles you got out of your 10R80?
did you do a drain and fill on your Mercon ULV trans fluid every 5,000 miles like me?
How did you get it to last?
I also do a differential fluid change of 75w-140 every 5,000
coolant 5-10,000.
I figure a new slightly better longer lasting 10R80 is $10-$12,000. And how long would it last in reality?
STEEDA rebuilds their 10R80s every 3,000 miles last I talked with them.
my engine and trans are stock at this point, and the 10R80 wont last past 8-10,000 miles or so.
what are the pluses and minuses of going to a sequential transmission?
I daily and road course.
Thank you.

Another guy I have just spoke with claims he went from the TREMEC six speed to a bUILT by KOSMIC 10R80 transmission and that it is far longer lasting and better Perf. at 800 hp. than the Tremec.
I find that shocking, at this point of my horrible 10R80 experience!
What do you folks know?

engineermike has done a complete thuro Thread on the subject. Try to look it up , I'm not going to try and recount in detail any content, other than Stock NA 480 HP Coyote I believe he said have no problem, until you add boost and have the trans tuned , then where the problems can arise, (also he stated 7 th gear is a weak link in the trans , I did ask if a stock coyote would be subject to experience issues, I believe his answer was most likely not , I do most my spirited Driv- ng 6 th gear and below 7 th and above I don't push it hard )
Currently my 21 Mach1 has 8,300 k , I have maybe twice experience a harsh shift down usually 3 rd to 2 nd going slow ( in normal mode ) I've read here that folks get 60 - 80 k with no issues. I am a firm believer on waiting til the Trans is up to operating temperature ( then I also know the oil temp is also at oper temp .) before I drive above 2,500 rpm in any said gear Normal mode. I've done this practice since I purchased the Car 3 1/2 years ago with 3 k miles , and all has been good, I also purchased at Ford ESP Premium 6 yr plan 6 months ago , for PoM .

Why was OP changing trans fluid every 5k miles thats crazy? I saw in his other thread he was complaining of a bad smell after install it makes me think there was a problem with the warranty work or trans.

I do it to flush out the shavings from the trans eating itself. I figure that and putting fresh fluid in to try and make the transmission last Longer than 10k miles.

I think the burning smell after the install of the warranty transmission was probably normal.

At this point, I don’t know what to think. I don’t know if I should put a:
- T 56 magnum in if that’s even possible?
-Should I buy wrecked car with The TR 3160 TREMEC 6sp transmission, and swap?
-Or should I buy KOSMIC, MIDNIGHT or somebody’s built 10R80 transmission?
-Or go sequential? What I have read though says the sequential transmission is not built for longevity but in reality would it last 100 times longer than a stock 10R80?
-Some other trans?

Transmission fluid flush @ 5000 miles? That’s just ridiculous and asking for trouble.
I noticed that: Qcman17, Bob Law and RNM agree with 2015 Silver GT statement of (transmission, fluid flush at 5000 miles? That’s just ridiculous and asking for trouble.)
So fellas, How is putting fresh transmission fluid asking for trouble exactly? Fresh non burned, non metallic shavings is bad how?

Should we always take out the new trans fluid when the vehicle is new and put old in? And if so how old, how many thousands of miles of heat, temperature changes, shearing, how many metal particle, etc.?
Should we put used transmission filters in also?
I would really like to hear some facts, experiences and proof.

I am not a transmission expert, but I’ve never heard of taking out fresh transmission fluid and putting in old transmission fluid or putting in old used transmission filter’s.

Leaving in the original filter and fluids for too long has always been a bad practice as far as I have been educated also!

‘Why do manufacturers and companies not sell used transmission fluids and filters as an upgrade, or at all? I have never seen or heard of this!

Even the manufacturers and service companies recommend changing to new filters and transmission fluid.

This all is shocking and mind blowing to me if true!
It is as if someone said the world is flat!

Don't shoot the messenger but this is what the owner's manual states.
Now I think that is crazy amount of miles to go, but it is what Ford recomends.
