It won't do anything. I ran a Borla tuneable catback exhaust on my '92 Camaro. It had a plate that was fully closed to completely open on the bypass side. You had to manually chage the plate under the car.

The Mustang AE set up is unfortunately a little more fragile. Springs in plastic actuators. It won't do anything. I ran a Borla tuneable catback exhaust on my '92 Camaro. It had a plate that was fully closed to completely open on the bypass side. You had to manually chage the plate under the car.
Hey Tony,Do not go WOT in quiet mode. Problems.
Did you watch the video at all? The valves they are showing are the stock valves. The valves do open in quiet mode at high RPM. Not all the way, but they do crack open releasing pressure. Watching the video again, they don't really seem to open much more in normal mode at wide open. Having an aftermarket exhaust has nothing to do with it, your actuators/programing is still Ford, works exactly the same regardless of exhaust system choice. The valves themselves looked exactly the same on my oem mufflers as they did on my Borla mufflers. You mentioned you have had problems with what you believe are the valves not being fully opened, but the only time the valves are fully open is Track, so I guess all other modes you should also never go wide open?I'm referring to the OEM set up. Not that familiar with the borla style. The OEM doesn't open via computer at WOT. It opens via selection on toggle or steeringwheel. Maybe it's forced open a bit from added exhaust pressure, but that puts stress on the actuators, increases back pressure, and builds up heat. I've had actuators go bad, and developed rattles in the butterfly valves. I believe it's from valves not being fully opened when driving hard.
Edit: I'm not suggesting you're going to blow your engine. But it's certainly putting stress on the AE actuators and valves.
Hey, Straw Man. You write in a lot of absolutes, "Never, Always, Exactly". Please don't take my post and twist it into some Sith Lord shit. Going wide open is only for a brief time, usually accelerating up to a certain speed then letting off. Of course, I would also never drive hard in quiet mode for an extended period of time, but on the street for an occasional burst of wide open, no issues as far as I am concerned based on my experience.

Well you can't just come on here trying to give out information and not answer WHY something shouldn't be done.Hey, Straw Man. You write in a lot of absolutes, "Never, Always, Exactly". That being said, you also pretty much validated my point right here...
Glad your valves held up. I've had rattling AE on a 2019 GT PP1 and a 2020 GT500 Track car. Those actuators and valves went bad somehow. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Regardless, I'm sharing my experience with the OP. I don't need you to swoop in and try to negate or invalidate it. He can make up his own mind.
Good night. Please don't reply. Been dealing with people like you all f'n week.
Sorry, haven't been on here all week, but I will reply if I want to. Funny you say I am dealing with absolutes, aren't you doing to same thing? Look at your first post in this thread, doesn't get more absolute then that. I am also sharing my experience with the OP, it just so happens to be the opposite of your experience. Same as you, I am offering him another opinion, he can make up his own mind. Sorry you have had issues with your valves, hopefully you can get it figured out and keep enjoying active exhaust, I feel it is a great feature for our cars.Hey, Straw Man. I love the sound of my exhaust in track mode, and 95% of the time, I enjoy the crap out of it. (Both the former OEM exhaust and my current Borla ATAK.) Sometimes through, I just want quiet, but still want to have some fun. Place the car in track mode, then change my exhaust to quiet mode. Also, loud exhaust definitely attracts attention, so sometimes quiet is the way to go when you want to lay low.Either way I don't see why anybody would run WOT in quiet mode anyhow.
