From that engine tear-down video, those GT500's on the test and drag track looked to be moving out. Rapidly !

No this does not make any sense. If this was true a lemans car being heavier would lap a road course faster than an F1 car.
Lol, with your analogy a hellcat charger (4500lb car) should be "much faster and carry much more speed." Make sense?
No, because you are not grasping the concept. look at the total package. not just HP and weight. their is a reason why lap times are getting faster while cars are ALL getting heavier. Modern day technical advancements enable cars to go much faster, in all regards, even while carrying more weight.
Again, 4200 is disappointing, but in no way signifies failure, or lacking the ability to outhandle other cars. The GTR was a heavy pig when it came out, and i believe it laid down some fast times, at the time.

Same can be said for the GT500.

car A is 3000lbs, turn 1 he is at 120mph, but needs to brake to 80 mph, meanwhile Car B, GT500 4200lbs, has some serious tech in it, is travelling 140mph, can carry 100mph through turn 1. Both need to scrub 40mph, but it doesnt mean the newer tech will fade faster, nor be any slower, in fact, the inverse is more true

Otherwise, how else do you justify, newer heaver cars, still getting faster, year after year after year?

I stopped at there is a reason lap times getting faster. Let me know when those fast lap times are accomplished with a 4100+ lbs car.

Also, I never said the gt500 was a failure, we havent even see what it can do, I'm just disappointed it weighs this much.

I have read alot about that and everywhere it has been said that GM will never put the Halo Car engine in the Camaro. The Z06 sure, it wasn't the ZR1. But GM could spread lies on purpose.
The engine that will not be put in the Camaro (or Corvette for that matter) is the new Blackwing 4.2TT. There is no vehicle using the LT5 at the moment. I am not convinced that it is being mothballed and it will not be used in C8. That leaves Camaro and possibly (I’ve heard rumors) Escalade as home(s) for LT5.

Agreed, and any true enthusiast hoping to 'carve corners' should also be disappointed, and if they are not... they are in denial. It's embarrassing this car weighs as much as a Challenger Hellcat! I still respect them, and am a huge Ford fan... but these cars will be one lap wonders, and meant for the drag strip.

Correct, the Camaro will be getting the LT5.

In defense of the GT500, the Challenger Hellcat is 4,450 lbs, so it is 225 lbs heavier than the GT500. It is certainly knocking on the Hellcat's door, however.

Not this Camaro guy. SS Camaro is 0-60 4.1 and GT is 3.99. What is not to deny?
Car and Driver has 3.8 seconds 0-60 for the GT PP1 A10, and 3.9 for the SS A10. Best magazine corrected published 1/4 is GT PP1 A10: 12.1 @ 120 mph (C&D), SS A10: 12.2 @ 118 mph (C&D). Motor Trend has the GT PP1 A10 12.1 @ 118.8 mph and the SS A10 at 12.4 @ 115.8 mph.

What people are underestimating is the cooling. Thye installed enough cooling that it could maintain 760hp for the duration of a tank full of gas. that's nuts. Like how easy it is to add timing and increase the boost on that? Shit then you throw E85 on it? I mean come on. I think the only limitation is the tranny. You'll have to swap that out for weight and durability and really that's nothing.
I hear you. I do have the sneaking suspicion that the DCT is very heavy duty and ready for extra power from modding as - is.

Fast forward to 5:35 to watch the engineer talk about the extensive track testing they did with the car.

Look at the ring and other lap times of the 4400 pound F90 M5 CP , and hell the 4300 pound M8 CP can run a 7:20 at the ring . That’s pretty damn fast ....

K, regardless. The Mustang is faster, lighter and both are using close to the same A10 with gearing changes and other differences by GM and Ford.

Yes, the BlackWing will be in the Corvette no matter what lies Cadillac and GM say to throw everyone off. It is the logical choice to go TT from now on.

ahh, cognitive dissidence. Dont like what your reading so it doesnt exist and painful to comprehend.

please, list all current chassis Camaro models, their HP and lap times.

I think you can see where this is going
