These are usually cool threads.
Post up your previous rides and anything worth nothing about them. Or, if you have a second (or in a lot of our cases, a DD), lets hear about it.
In chronological order. I’m 30, and I’m sure many people my age or younger will have beat my list:
1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4. Absolute freaking tank and got me in a lot of trouble exploring how tough it was.. lol. I sold it with 219k on the odometer and never hand a single drivetrain issue and that engine felt as strong as it did 100k ago when I got it. I had an “intake” and changed the exhaust, did a 2” budget boost and had a set of 31” tires. It was a fun pile of shit. Taught me how to wrench, I replaced everything around the drivetrain at least once...
2000 Mustang GT, 5 speed Spring Edition. Had all bolt ons except headers, 125 shot plate nitrous kit, springs, LCA’s, RAM clutch/flywheel, staggered wheels, painted the roof black, smoked headlights, Mach chin spoiler and a few other things. I LOVED THIS CAR. I had been into Mustangs since I was a little kid and bought this as a high school grad gift for myself, with the money I’d earned working leading up to that point.
I learned so much about wrenching, racing, diagnosing/fixing and maintaining vehicles with that car. Truly invaluable stuff. I still have the vehicle but it’s in a different state in complete need of restoration. Kicking myself about that.
1986 Yamaha FZ750. The start of the modern sport bike era. It was a heavy pig and had funky 80’s styling but it was a very powerful bike. It had a little work done when I bought it (full exhaust, ignition, airbox removed and re-jetted). It was a blast to wind that thing out to almost 12k RPM and hear that 5V Genesis motor SCREAM! In it’s day it was a 11.30 or so 1/4 bike and it felt every bit that fast. I know that’s nothing compared to modern sports bikes but literally hanging on to set of handle bars and a seat really makes those speeds a life changing experience lol.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 HO. Still miss that thing to this day. It was such a comfortable cruiser and had a ton of power. I put an intake/exhaust on it and it sounded raw. Much like a modular Mustang. Engine design was very similar. Sold it because gas prices at the time did not work well with my commute and how much I was earning then.
2013 Focus ST. I was able to get this by trading my Jeep and the difference in gas expense alone made up for the payment. Bought it with 16k on the odometer and I truly truly miss this car. It was an ST2 with the Recaro seats and nav. I had put a catback, green filter and Unleashed tune on that car and it was a blast. Power was available anywhere due to how small the turbos are on the ST. One day I want to find it and buy it back, lol.
2016 Mustang GT. Talked myself into getting back in the Mustang game and did a LOT of searching until I found my car. I was dead set on a 6 speed PP car and it was by pure stupid luck I found this thing. I PLAN (as of now ha) to hold on to this car for as long as possible. Can’t wait to throw some mods on it. It had 5,700 mi on the odometer when I got it about a month and a half ago.
Looking back, I’ve been pretty consistent.. I’m not particularly a Mopar fan (my GF had a Stratus I absolutely loathed - it was always breaking) but I will always have a soft spot for Jeeps. Thinking about the money I’ve spent on vehicles is a little sickening but for me, it’s not an A to B vehicle. It’s an extension of my personality and driving is an experience to me. I wouldn’t be happy with a mundane ride that didn’t have some type of character.. guess that’s one of the healthier addictions one can have, lol.
