Hey yall, just a question. On our cars, we can put it in 1st gear and the car will "creep" which is handy in traffic. Does the camaros and challengers have that, or is that just exclusively to ford? I had an old f250 that did it, but I never had anything besides a Ford to compare it to. Thanks yall.

Depends on the rear axle ratio. Some stock Mustangs with 3.31 gears will "creep" faster than those with performance packs (which should crawl). Mine is a nice in between.

Any manual transmission car will do it, if you know how to properly drive one. It's not a mechanical feature exclusive to Ford. It's a basic mechanical function for the car to slowly go forward in first gear unless you apply enough gas to build up speed.

Ive done it in every manual car I've owned, and scratch my head every time I see a post on here about it being some type of feature.

Only ever had two fords Mr Paul. Never driven a manual from any other brand so I just didn't know. Thanks though.

Yeah, calling it "creep assist" or whatever is annoying to me too. I think anything with enough low-end torque to push the car at idle rpm should be able to do this. Hell, my Mustang will coast in 2nd without giving it gas (3.73 gears, so still pretty slow). Just like driving a tractor.

Me too

Engine is at non-zero RPM, clutch engaged, choices are two - either is going to move or stall. All card I had, moved but supposedly same would stall. Anything else is physically impossible.... (unless clutch or transmission is broken).

Haha you actually made an articulate description of the function in question and asked an honest question, I was scratching my head in response to all the guys giving it a fancy name like it's an add on option for the car or some new invention by ford.

Exactly, that's what I was complaining about, not the OP.

With the right clutch modulation on a flat surface it can be done with even the most torqueless little Honda.

EFI does have some anti-stall logic about it that's intended to keep the engine running if you're stopped and there's a sudden heavy electrical load applied, or when with an automatic you first drop it into any drive gear. It's good enough in many cars to let you idle along even up a mild slope. Maybe even in 2nd gear.
