Hi guys....just had a call from my dealer to say that my car was currently in production, and ETA to the UK is March 19th:mad:.... Pretty disappointed to be honest, :paddle:as I paid my deposit on Feb 2nd, so over 13 months for delivery, not good.....:frusty:
I'm sorely tempted to cancel and go and get that Jag XKRr that was a close second on my list.. I mean I'd hardly be sluming it with a 510 bhp supercharged V8, :thumbsup:and I can get a nice one tomorrow if I choose.... But before I throw in the towel completely and walk away from Ford, can anyone help me decifpher my window sticker...??

I know the spec stuff, etc but what are the numbers along the top and bottom, because by my reconning if I've read the info right the blend date was 1st Dec, now if that's the case it means my car isn't in production and is already built, so this gives me a little hope that the dealer info is wrong, and I may get it before 19th March

Any help would be much appreciated, before I just call it a day and give it up as a bad job:(

(Can't enlarge your photo and a bit tricky to read the numbers - does look like 12/18/2015 to me? Bottom left side, which, to us brits is 18/12/2015).

Early march isn't the worst time for pickup, you'll be in time for new plates.

That being said, any cars built in December, are most likely going to be on an early jan ship over (Think it's a jan 12th ship - but someone else can give you more info). Dealers given you march 19th as Dec 18th + 12 weeks = week before pickup, gives them a week to PID and sort out a 'day' for you to pickup on.

If it soothes the mind, mines 'meant to be built early Jan' and 'will arrive in March'. I'm hopeful it's an early Jan build so it gets on one of the earlier ships. But i'm not holding my breath for that :/.

As a lot have said on other posts, cancelling is only going to make you feel like sh1t when you see one on the road. Especially as you've already waited 10 months, and have actually had your car built and window sticker recieved. - Ask your dealer to ring round other dealerships and see if they've got any GTs (Think thats what youve ordered) that have been cancelled on that you can get delivered up and take if you want the car 'urgently'.

Thanks chaps:thumbsup:.... Sorry about the blurred image, I couldn't seem to get it any better....anywho....looks like you're right I've just done an ETIS update

Looks like build date was 17th Dec..... Still pisspoor IMO, but what can you do:shrug:

I'm going to have to give it some serious thought, but as it stands it's 50/50 as to whether I just go for the Jag...... I don't think it'll be to much of a hardship hooning around in one of those:ninja:

Do dealers offer extended test drives? see if you can get one too scratch the itch for a little bit
Dealer specific, very few are up for doing it. But they can, and will. Just need to sweet talk!

Enoch Yeah you'll be on an early Jan ship and then you can count your 12 weeks to delivery.

Best case is to Email Karen Batt for information. I've PMd you her email. She's heading up the delivery of the Mustangs.

Looks like a blend date of 8th December, so it should be built now. Probably assembly offline awaiting its trip to the upfitters. Put your VIN into Etis and see what it comes up with, once it updates with the uprated springs (which are near the end of the listing) you can be sure its almost done.
If you're thinking of jacking the order for a Jag? Are you sure you really want a Mustang? I never ever had any other car in mind other than the stang, effectively from being told i was on the waiting list i waited 19 month.

Same as mine.

Etis is showing the long list of miner specs but not the uprated springs. My guess is yours will be in a similar position awaiting the upfitters. I believe Flatrock is now closed for the holidays so won't progress till the new year.

Similar to what Big G has said, I've never thought about anything else but a Mustang, and nothing even comes close (not even a stunning F type).

In answer to the question, "are you sure you want a Mustang?" Well I was sure, I'm an ex serial TVR Griffith owner, and also had a V8 Vantage for a few years so yes the mustang is something I think would fit my style of motor and I've been looking forward to....
I've also been dealing with some not so nice health issues, and the Mustang was one of the things that took my mind of some of the other crap.... I suppose I'm just disappointed because I was told Nov, the Dec, and now it's bloody March...

Karen said she'd try and push my order forwards, but for whatever reason it hasn't happened...

My biggest regret is that I chose the wrong dealer...

I bet you loved the servicing costs for the Aston ;) I'm in the same boat as you in that I wished that I had chose a different dealer.

To be fair, I used to take it to an independent, in the 30 months of ownership I paid around ÂŁ1200 quid for servicing...:)

Wow that's a lot less than I was expecting, I thought you would be paying that much for an oil change

I found a great independent in Macclesfield... 2 ex Stratstone Aston guys....
Servicing was to a very high standard, and they'd let you supply your own oil if you wanted.....the vantage is a pretty good solid car, but the dealers are just piss takers, no other word for it...
I remember it going into the main dealers for a small warranty job, and I asked if they could get the mirrors to fold on locking the door.....
Can't be done on this model sir, we'd have to order a module, fit it and then reflash the ECU:crazy:

Took it to my Macclesfield guys for a service, and low and behold the mirrors folded when I locked the door.....:headbang::thumbsup:. I said wow how did you do that? Oh we just plugged in the computer and activated that feature...2 minutes NO CHARGE:amen::clap2:

Anyway on to other business...GOOD NEWS:p..I contacted Karen:hail: yesterday and relayed what my dealer had said, and that it was a bit of a disappointment having to wait until 19th March...

Just had the reply below...... So yet again it shows that the dealers aren't getting up to date info, but at least Karen is....:clap2:

"Hi Enoch

I will certainly do all I can to get that sped up for you. To be honest it has just been gate released this week, so it will be at the docks by the New Year. It will be scheduled for a vessel early January.
Then 2 weeks sailing. 1.5/2 weeks in Zeebrugge, then twice weekly sailings to Southampton. I would estimate a Feb delivery.

I hope this helps
Have a fantastic Christmas

Karen"

The best news from this must be that Karen (who hasn't yet replied to me but I imagine she is dealing with more urgent cases than mine right now) is predicting 8 weeks or less from gate to delivery rather than the 12 we always heard before. :D
