I use an aluminium plate on mine, just to stay legal, but some mates have the stick on ones and the police haven't bothered them. They use correct spacing and sizes tho, any dodgy spaces or fonts usually will be noticed.

The stick on plates will be better for looks but you could always stick a normal front plate in the boot and use a stick on up front so if you get pulled use an excuse like the normal plate fell off so I'm using this "emergency one till I can get it fixed )

Photos make your plate's lettering look larger  Especially the height.

As I said, mm's in it ;). But it is illegal, apart from the spacing/height, you know that though, don't you?
I'd need to measure it but I think you're correct, I've got normal size letters on this one..:D

Silly rules need to be broken:)..

I've regularly gone across the Dartford crossing and the NPR cameras have no trouble sending me the bill:)

It's not the fact it's a sticker, as long as it conforms to regulations regarding reflectiveness, they have to have the name of the plate manufacturer or issuing dealer plus the BS AU145d actually on the plate.

The ones without it, not only is the owner breaking the law (step up from 'rules'), so is the manufacturer for supplying them. Though they probably sold them with the proviso that they are 'show plates' only.

Anyway, most of the police probably don't have a scooby, but it's an excuse for those that do know, to pull you over. It's an MOT fail as well. This is all for information, personally I like em all :D

I think it's a regulation rather than a law..:)

Breaking the law can land you in prison, breaking a regulation ends up with a fine...:)

But I get your point:cheers:

I have had my car for 9 months without the front plate fitted at all. For 6 months it lived on the dashboard and the last 3 months it's been in the boot. Have not had any problems at all with the rozzers.

Think I do need to get a front plate but think it looks crap with one fitted so may just wait and see how long I can get away with it.

A few years ago your chance of being stopped by Police for illegal plates was quite high, these days the "old style traffic cops" are getting very much retired..

The pressures on Policing at the moment with cuts etc does not allow any "free" time for casual traffic stops from your regular beat bobby...!

They can just stick a penalty on your car when it's parked up of course, max ÂŁ1,000 for a dodgy plate. If they think you have changed the plate to 'pervert the course of justice' then it's a whole different game. Max penalty, life imprisonment
