I was sitting in my car with the windows down waiting for some one.. I turned it off and opened/closed the door to get the radio off..

After sometime the lights flashed and the doors locked with me/keyfob still inside..

When I opened the door a warning popped up on the dash saying "push start or alarm will sound" with a countdown and an audible tone..

I pressed start before it counted down but I'm gonna try it again to see what happens Lol, my car doesn't have the security package so I don't know what "alarm" it speaks off.. probably just the horn like the panic button.

But yeah, it would seem the car does indeed lock itself when turned off.

I tested my car, leaving it for about 5 minutes, and it didn't auto-lock. I cannot decide if that is good or bad.

Having a locking gas cap would be cool. Without one I will have to be nice to all my neighbors

The easy fuel filler has a locking mechanism already. If you're using a gas can to fill it with fuel you can't fill it unless you have the nozzle attachment that's included with the car.

Ford's got you covered :D:headbang:

good info

I also saw this in their posting:

For another level of deterrence, a customer can purchase a locking cover,” Aitken said. The locking covers are available for purchase from Ford and Lincoln dealers.

which means I won't have to be nice to my neighbors after all :headbonk:

Seems strange, because if the FOB is in the car and is being sensed I can't see why the car would lock and set the alarm. Maybe it was because the windows were down.

Yeah, that was my thought as well..

I thought the doors were never supposed to lock the key inside the car and my car doesn't even have an alarm.. Lol.

Maybe you guys can try it, see if it does the same thing.

I put the windows up then open/closed the door. I sat in the car a few minutes messing with my phone when it flashed/locked.

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere, but it does something SO smart if you put it in the trunk.

I was zoned out and put my keys in the trunk to carry some things inside, then closed the trunk. The car honked twice and popped the trunk (or refused to close it). Smart :D

This has happened twice now. Left the wife in the car to run into the store and I set the alarm, next thing I knew the car alarm is honking.
I know I didn't hit the fob on anything and I asked her if she tried to open the door and she said all she did was pull the visor mirror down.
I seems the alarm senses any movement from the interior of the car and will set -off the alarm off:shrug:
I will just lock the car without activating the alarm if she is waiting for me from now on...:headbonk:

Yes, the enhanced alarm system has interior motion sensors and set off the alarm on your wife inside.

If this is not already in the "What's the coolest feature" thread, then you should put this in there.

negative. car chirps reminding you the cars on.
negative :D if the engine is running and you leave the car and it "chirp chirps" means the key is out of range probably in your pocket

From the Owner's Manual:

AUDIBLE WARNINGS AND INDICATORS
Keyless Warning Alert
The horn will sound twice when you exit
your vehicle with the intelligent access key
and your vehicle is in RUN, indicating your
vehicle is still on.
