Dear Ford Motor Company,
First off thank you for making such an amazing car.....from what I, along with many other people have heard. Therein lies the issue. You see, after ordering my car twice, one from a dealer that screwed me over and another from one that was nice enough to do MSRP I still have not received my car like many others on this forum. So what could you have done different? Well here is a few suggestions. Lets start from the first problem, the dealerships.

Dealerships
We all understand that this is a hot new product and to capitalize on supply and demand dealerships are looking to make the most money possible. Charging $5,000-$40,000 over sticker in profit. Here is an idea. When a dealership signs up for the Shelby program make them sign an agreement to charge a reasonable amount for the vehicle. I've found that to get people into your dealerships it is better to show it off in a natural setting besides sitting in a showroom roped off with salesmen/saleswomen that know nothing about the car.

Shipping
Why in the hell do you wrap up a 50th anniversary GT and those that go overseas but not a special edition Shelby that is subject to severe damage while in transport. Rock chips, weather, dents, dings, chips in windows, ect. It's obvious you have the covers readily available so why ship the most expensive modern mustang without extra protection?

Shelbys Sitting
With the recent images surfacing of the vast amount of Shelbys sitting in lost just waiting to be shipped, Thank you VooDoo for the pics , why not do something about it. The only thing I can think of that is wrong is issues with shipping. Why not do what GM and Dodge do with the Corvette and Viper? Dodge takes $900 off the price if you come pick it up for yourself and give you a factory tour. I'd be all over that in a heartbeat. GM does something similar but costs an extra $5,000 and you get to build the motor. However, due to the amount of other vehicles that come off the factory floor it does not seem feasible. Offer a program that lets customers come up, tour the factory, and drive their vehicle home that day.

Lack of Information
Seeing as some of the vehicles (2015s) were built in July/August and are still not in the hands of the customers one's only response is "Where the hell is my car!?" How do cars sit for four months and you do not inform the customers about what the hold up is. I don't think anyone would have an issue if it was correcting a flaw or issue that might later come up but a little information is greatly needed.

All this has me worried. While I still very much want this car and after selling my 2013 in preparation my car is still under "material hold" whatever the hell that means. I've owned nothing but Fords and so have my parent, with the exception of one vehicle, for over 25 years. Never have I seen such a lack of caring for a product you put so much time and effort into. But I digress. Anyway, like many other members, I will just continue to sit and wait for a car that may not come until next year. But hey whats another two months on top of the four months I've already been waiting.

Sorry if this does not agree with some but I'm so tired of waiting for this damn car but won't give up on it. Also, sorry for the long read. Kinda helped getting it all out there. Anyway if you made it through the entire thing hope you enjoyed it at least.

Well said! I hope someone at Ford is listening. But, I have to say it was worth the wait.

Ordered mine 6/12, built 10/22 and delivered 11/20. Have no clue why it sat outside at FRAP for nearly a month. 90% of the frustration could be eliminated just with better communication from Ford and FRAP re. the issues being addressed, etc. Leaving people in the dark is not excusable, especially for guys who lined up to order a $60K+ Mustang.

You are also spot on re. the wrap of the Anniversary Edition and not doing so on the Shelby. Makes no sense. However, in my case (hopefully most others) the car arrived in perfect shape on an open car carrier via Cassens Transport.

All my frustrations were 100% totally washed away on Friday. Unbelievable car and my dealership experience (a smaller one: Harold Zeigler Ford - Lowell, MI) was 100% positive from order thru delivery.

That is the only reason I'm holding out. After what several owners have said it is well worth the wait. I am happy your car showed up in perfect condition and can only hope the rest of them do. Anyway, congrats on getting your car bud!!!

Enzo, you make some strong points here that I agree with - particularly better communications and covering the cars for shipping - but you're way off-base on a couple of things. First, the dealers are independent business people and by federal law can't control the sales price at the retail level. Second, the Corvette engine, Buyers Tour and museum delivery programs don't work that way. Of particular note is the fact that all Corvettes sit outside on the lot for QC checks for at least a week or two before shipping - after being given a long, high-pressure water bath at the end of the line - or even longer, if a production problem is discovered.

Then here may be an idea for dealers. Give each that sign up for the program one allocation. Those that overcharge won't get as many orders as those that offer at MSRP. Theres plenty of Mustang forums and members that spread the good word for reasonable dealerships. So reward those dealerships with extra allocations until the total production is filled. Idk if that makes any sense but it does in my brain lol. Not very familiar with the Corvette thing but was just using it as an example.

That's similar to the Dodge program for Hellcats, where a dealer can't order another one if he has one sitting on the lot. I know one dealer that asks ADM for his Hellcats right up until the day it's time to order the next one; then the one in stock magically sells for whatever the highest offer is.

The difference is Dodge took almost a year to increase production of Hellcats to whatever the market will bear. Ford has not done that.

Thats where the idea came from and works for dealerships like the one in Broken Arrow Oklahoma. They sell all 6 of their allocations in a matter of minutes.

I normally would not buy a new car sports car that sat out in the weather for over 2 months. If and when my 350 gets here I'm going over the paint real carefully. If it's got water spots then a professional detail would be required. I just hope that's all it needs.
It's just unbelievable how a mass produced car has so many bumps in road to ownership. I've only ordered one car in my life and that was a corvette C7 back in 2013. It took just over 4 weeks from order to dealer. That's been my one and only order experience. I've either bought used or new off the dealer lot. Not happy @ all with this cluster you know what. I can't complain about ADM's because I'm not paying one. But I worked @ it and as they say the harder you work the luckier you get.

This is the first car I've ever ordered and as of now I'm not impressed in the slightest. I'd expect a 6 month waiting time for a Ferrari. Not a Ford.

Your order is under a "material hold" because the regional rep hasn't selected your allocation to be built yet. That is exactly what Ford Performance told me weeks ago when I talked to them. My DORA was 6/4 and my allocation was just given a VIN and build week of Jan 4 last Thursday.

Dude your comments on everything annoy the hell out of me. You always have a answer for everything. If your so happy good for you. But most of us are not. I'm tired of waiting for a car I ordered in the spring just to be told it would only take 8 weeks. 8 weeks I can handle. 6 months no! That's not acceptable. My car was built 10-20 and has been sitting for over 4 months. Today when I took those pics it proves that they just sit and sit. I call ford and ford performance almost daily and each time I call I get the same bs lie. My salesman is a great guy and he's been told 3 times when my car would arrive. He's even shown me in the computer from the dealers shipment dates when my car would arrive showing my cars vin number. It's not the dealers fault they are not here on time. It's fords! So if you don't like the rant and raves we post simply don't read them. I want my car, and I expect it to be made to the Q1 standards ford promote. Nothing less. If they want to build this car and talk all high and mighty about it and make us wait fine. I waited, and waited and waited. Oh look snows on the ground now! I live in Michigan just 20 miles from flat rock and when I do get my car I can't even enjoy it after a 6 month wait because of the weather. What fun is that. Another thing I want to know is why is it for example my cars vin is 0390 and others with a later vin and live out of state get their car first? I'm very happy others for their car, I just want to know why if they had one built after me and live out of state haven't I got mine. God forbid we ever have another world war. Because the enemy will kick our ass because we can't ship them out fast enough. Who was in charge during WWII? I want that guy back so he can ship our cars out.

This is exactly the story. The thing that is hard for owners/future owners is the #'s are spaced thru out the year, so some are having a Long wait. Hang in there.

I have never owned anything but fords my whole life. This might change my mind and have me jump ship to a vett. I'm about done waiting. Even Chevy wraps the vett.
