Just picked up a '15 GT PP. Already had Borla cat back exhaust, CAI and a tune. Next comes a shifter. I know there are others but I'm loving the retro style of the Hurst. Anyone have some experience with it?

Get a MGW, don't waste your time or money on anything else.

hurst still uses the junk stock linkage and other components
Not direct connected to the transmission
Their instructions tell you to unbolt the driveshaft
That reverse lever

No thanks

Don't waste your time with Hurst.
MGW is light years ahead of the cheapie sloppy design and poor quality of Hurst. They are history.
Look at the Youtube video of the MGW Race Spec short throw shifter.
You will do well to go with the best. I purchased MGW.

MGW all the way, we've left the retro behind.

Doesn't the Barton still use the factory linkage and not bolt to the transmission...yeah, MGW bolts to the transmission and replaces the linkage.

Barton now hard mounts, but I believe it still uses stock linkage. MGW is just an all around superior design.

Plus, BMR designed their driveshaft loop to work with the MGW. When other major AM companies are designing their products around yours, it has to be good.

Barton offers a hard transmission mounted shifter and features a DS Loop (drive shart safety loop) to satisfy racing requirements. It sells for about $625. However, Barton themselves warns that this model will increase transmission noise and vibration felt through the shifter.

I understand the pretty unanimous agreement that the MGW is the best shifter. I'm not necessarily looking for the all out best racing shifter that will perform the best, under the most stress and while driving the car to its absolute limit. I bought the car to make a 50 year tribute to my first car (1965 Coupe, Green with white racing stripes, leather, loud, manual trans). So the retro look and operation is really appealing.

With that said, does anyone have experience with the Hurst? Please don't respond if you are a member of the MGW fan club. I get it, MGW is the absolute best. But I'm not in the market for the best.

Perhaps you need to learn and appreciate this adage:
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the Sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Friend, you're on your own. Look for extra saving during Black Friday in about a week.

I like the quote and will actually use it at work tomorrow. Thank you. However, I never said I was chasing a low price. The MGW is $475 and the Hurst is $375. This has nothing to do with the $100 price difference. Heck, you could damn near buy a Steeda shifter for the $100 cost difference. The Hurst is an improvement over the stock shifter by providing a 38% shorter throw. I not a competition racer nor do I want to be. I simply want a shorter shift with some retro style.

Gr8ride65, two people on this forum reported that the chrome on their Hurst shifter was peeling after 4 months of use. There are a number of products that only reduce the throw but maintain the stock internals of the shifter. The cost is around $200. if memory serves.

Of course, do what you will.
