Keep the black and have it c quartz coated. The first step is the car will be totally detailed and the paint looking flawless. Then c quartz is applied. Afterwards dirt, dust, etc will simply rinse off. I think for a s550 it runs about a grand but is completely worth it.

I am looking to do the EXACT same thing...bc I have a black EB and it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean and I also know the "swirl marks" are coming. I purchased mine in August on Ford's 0% for 72 Months and 2K in rebates, so I got a great price (financed 29K). I will have to "eat" about 3,000-3500 in negative equity, if I decide to trade. For me, it will be worth it, as I intend to to keep it for a long time and I qualified for a 1.99% APR finance rate, up to 72 months. My note (should I do the trade) will go from $403 to $457. I suppose it just depends if you are willing to absorb the negative equity and can, and are willing, to pay a higher note, for the same car, albeit in a different color. My car, by the way, has 2600 miles on it.

Glad I didn't roll with a black one. My magnetic is nice, but I'm pretty jealous of the guys that have triple yellow here. That and some black wheels always looks nice to me.

That's closer to $4,000 -- although, cheaper than an excellent paint job!

Ultrakla$$ic Have any input on this?
My 2015 Black 50th Anniversary packaged GT only had 179 miles on it when I traded it back in. I would have taken a hit if it had more miles than this I'm sure.

I LOVE the Ingot Silver. I won't buy another black car EVER.:headbonk:

Steeeliskt,

Closer to 4K is true...$3,888 to be exact but the dealer I intend to trade with did agree to 2 free details and 2 free synthetic oil changes, so maybe all of that may add up to $388, which would make the negative equity $3500. But, yes still cheaper than a top quality paint job. I looked at getting a C. Quartz detail, to seal the paint. The cost is about $1600ish. I Just decided I would rather pay the extra and get a color I wanted, rather than spend $1600ish and still have a black car.

I agree with you 1000%! Black is gorgeous when it is clean and polished (1% of the time in the car's life) but it is just too much work on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly/ownership cycle of the car to merit the time and effort expended to keep it clean and polished...not to mention the inevitable "swirl marks".

Black is nice but you lose ALL the sexy body lines that the s550 boasts!

I agree 100%. I had a race red car car and traded it for a black car. I felt the same way it looks so bland and you miss half the cars curves and lines in black. I regret getting a black car big time especially since it is my DD.

It's not an attention whore color but it casts the shadows of the sexy body lines so well!!! EASY to clean and VERY forgiving with hiding swirls.

The s550 is so gorgeous in all the colors, its' just which one works best for your liking and me personally the Ingot Silver healed my OCD. LOL!!!!.

I just picked up a 16 black eb pp last night. The last black car I had was back in 2000 with a jetta 1.8T. I had such bad experience with that black that I never got another black car ever again until I seen this mustang in black. How can you not forgive lol she doesn't mean to get dirty, the dirty comes to her. She is just so dang sexy in black no other color does this car real justice, sorry guys ;-)

Black is definitely a labor of love but worth it IMO.
