I wouldn't worry about the software updates on the phones. Essentially all the Tomptop unit is doing is connecting to the device via bluetooth and then the Sync system takes over from there. I don't see updates being an issue unless they completely change the way bluetooth works, which wouldn't...

Yeah, that kinda bugged me too. No solution around it. To go through your presets, hit the up arrow on the actual dash controls. It actually works out pretty well, my hand can rest across the shifter and I just use my middle finger to hit the up arrow
