with the engine fully warmed up I drove about 30miles local (with traffic stops) and kept it under 3500rpm

the outside air temp was 14c/58f
engine oil climbed from 14c at start up to 81C/178F max, it wasn't even half way.

seems the engine cooling without the cooler is strong enough. same day my m3's oil temp was about 91c/195f

It is a good idea to let the oil warm up, I use the digit gauge to read out the oil temp, 5w-50 is not a thin oil so it will take some time to warm up.

The engine does have an oil cooler. Track pack adds trans oil cooler and diff cooler.

Yea your right.. Tech doesn't have one. It's just the track pack. You won't see temps usually high unless your tracking the car or maybe a lot of back to back wot runs.

That's pretty good news to me. My Boss runs 200-220 depending on ambient temperature and traffic conditions.

Yeah, got confused with the 3.5L GTDI and 3.5/3.7L NA. Their oil filter attachments have integrated coolers. I spent 2013-this year around the 3.5L (both), 2.7L and 5.0L all the time.

drove about 20mile highway non-stop this morning, temp was 79c/174F

You want the oil to be above 212*F even during street driving to boil off the water that accumulates during the combustion process. There is a 'too cool' for oil.

At the same time a C6Z Corvette can run 160-175 degree's driving up and down the highway WITH an oil cooler and be over 280 on track in a hurry which is a bit to high for extended track use.

What I am saying...170 on the street is nothing to worry about and if anything would be a bit on the cold side depending on where they are taking the reading but doesn't really tell you what it will do on track.

Unfortunately this data is useless. It's obvious the car isn't going to overheat putting around town.

The car does have an engine oil cooler - all of the GT350s do.

Not sure why people keep thinking this. It's an option as part of the track package which contains the three coolers.

Matt - My assumption is that all of the GT350's have the oil to water cooler at the base of the oil filter and that the Track Pack adds the oil to air cooler??? (ICBW)

Oh are they still doing the oil-to-water sandwich cooler? I guess that qualifies, but it's a bit misleading to say it has "the" oil cooler.

You're right from the parts diagram...

Not sure where you got that, but it's incorrect. All of the vehicles have the remote (oil to air) oil cooler.

arsenalrocks, open your hood and you'll see what you have. Or better yet, look through the lower left grill opening. You'll see your oil cooler.

Uh Ford.com?

Nothing anywhere says that an oil-to-air cooler is standard on the GT350. I'm welcome to be proven wrong and find them on base and tech packages, but what fordparts.com diagrams seems to say is that they have a oil-to-water cooler that taps off the main radiator line, like they included on a Boss 302 and I guess probably comes with the GT PP?
