So I finally have a update, I was chasing the ODB code P0016 and followed the Ford service manual on the steps to determine was the root cause and when I got to the step of checking the timing chain I went to the Ford dealer in Upland Calif..”Upland Ford” the owner is on this site and tracks his Gt350, his mechanics determined that the passenger intake cam was off by one tooth……I was totally blown away when I heard the news from the mechanic and I was shown detailed printouts of the motor and the VCT going crazy trying to get the cam back in time. Fast forward.. I took the print outs to my engine builder and he was surprised to say the least. we discussed the best way to prove the Upland mechanics finding and taking off the passenger valve cover and Turning the motor over to get the cam phasers timing marks would be proof.. and after 20 something turns the cams came into the timing marks and sure enough the passengers intake cam was off one link.. ” check the pictures”. The engine builder and his crew reviewed the pictures and he immediately sent the two engine builders to my home to fix the problem. So there is a few things I wanted to let everyone know about timing marks and cams and phaser.. first, yes you can move a cam without removing the front cover, two, the engine primary chain and secondary chain will come into time marks after about 20 something revolutions of the primary..the crank rotated so many times I lost count..I didn’t need to go to to gym after that event….hint..removing all the spark plugs is a must… I took the time to replace the cam VCT solenoids with Ford Performance upgraded ones . Yesterday I put it all back together and drove it around and what a difference, now the hot rod feels like a 500 horse monster, funny story I was about two blocks from my house and turned a corner and about to jump on the throttle and sure enough two of the city’s finest were sitting there looking at me decelerating by them… with a big smile I cruised by them… no ticket… whew! Today I’ll be going up the California coast getting miles on the motor before next week’s Willow springs Shelby Cobra event ..

I need to thank Christian at Upland Ford for advice and his mechanics..they are the GT 350 meca , there was at least 10 GT 350/500’s there being upgraded with suspension and other items, he did mention that the 2015/16 motors with the spin on filters are a disaster waiting to happen, so I did have them replaced my filter assembly with the canister type. Just to let you know I replaced every sensor before I finally gave up and took it to the dealer…if your in California and need advice on your GT give Christian a call he has a library of information.

I have also upgrade the radiator with a Misimoto, so the story will continue after next weekend..

Willow weekend was great, motor issues have gone away and took the time to dial in the suspension and tires, I was told to check every nut and bolts often and to our surprise we all had loose suspension nuts and bolts...re-torqued and kept on flying around the track for 2 days .

I will scan the printouts from the Dealer mechanic and post them for you to see, apparently the Cam Phasers can move the cam 17 degrees +- from center and one tooth was 20 degrees off and it shows the phaser pegged at 17 trying to bring the cam back into the correct position. Hat’s off to the Ford Training
