Long story short, I am installing springs and when it came to the rear subframe I could not get enough clearance to get the spring to clear the upper perch. I followed the CJ Pony Parts video, the instructions provided with the springs, and even disconnected the rear sway bar link and fully removed both subframe bolts. Then I had a buddy hang onto the brake and caliper with all his body weight and there still wasn't enough room to wiggle the spring off the upper perch.

Any suggestions? I PM'd the spring seller but there wasn't a lot of help provided, they recommended taking the car to a shop but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay someone $200+ to install two springs.

Subframe bolts front and rear, 1 side only and rear sway bar link disconnected and then just pry down.. I did it by myself and it was a pain just need enough leverage on your prybar :) I used a 4 ft bar and sat on it while removing the spring.. Placed bar over caliper and under frame, just watch for wiring and lines.

So it's not just me then lol. CJ Pony Parts makes it look so easy. I did have both sub frame bolts removed, shock removed, and sway bar end link removed and with my buddy (who weighs 225 lbs) hanging, feet off the floor, from the caliper...still not enough.

When I did mine it would hit my exhaust when I pryed it down. I disconnected both hangers on the side I was working on, to get mine down far enough to pull out the spring.

I just installed sportlines last week all by myself in my garage and I had no problems with the rear at all. each rear corner took about 45min-hr. when you took the front and rear subframe bolts off did you loosen the 2 bolts beside the front subframe bolt? I remember on one side i had to loosen them to the point where they were about to fall out to get the spring out.

Mine were no problem. On the rear drivers side I did have to unbolt my axle back exhaust tho to get enough room

Yea, I pulled both main bolts plus the two smaller bolts that held the bracket for the front main bolt. I only tried the drivers side, I ran out of time in the hobby shop to even bother with the passenger. I'm going to give it a try again this weekend.

I angled the rear spring and wiggled it into place. I did take both subframe bolts out from each side when doing that side. Had a bean pole jack to keep some the subframe from coming down too far. I know it seems dumb, but are you sure you have the rear springs, too? I initially grabbed the rears when the fronts lol. I saw it immediately, but I know it's happened to people

I don't get it I literally unbolted the subframe and the springs came out with me resting on the caliper and pulling the spring at the same time, maybe its the gt exhaust that makes it harder... I'm ecoboost. I know it may sound dumb but it the jack or jackstand on the subframe? I put a jack stand on that hump and as soon as I got to working on the rears I had to switch to the pinch weld

You misread, I'm trying to REMOVE the stock springs and having issue with that. The aftermarket front springs are already installed. I completely removed the pole stand from the subframe and it just hung there.

Ah, whoops. Pribar in the subframe and pivot it down. Cheers!

I haven't actually installed springs myself but I remember looking at the Touring/Sport and Track springs from Ford Racing on their site. They had their installation manual for the springs in PDF form on the pages. It seemed to be super detailed, with great 3D CAD style diagrams for each step and separate sections for front/rear. Regardless of the brand of spring, the disassembly/install process should be the same. If you still need help, maybe check that out...

EDIT: Here you go. It's the installation PDF down near the bottom: http://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=24851

What I did to remove the rear springs is to take out the rubber spring seat on the top off of the springs. After that, just align the lower part of the springs with the perch and should have enough room to just slide off.

I had to pull on the top of the spring and give it a nice strong yank. The rubber piece on top just needs to be squeezed by. Try spraying a little soapy water on the rubber to help it slip past...shouldn't be necessary though.

I took a scissor jack and put it on top of my rotor and used a 2x4 up in my rear fender well and just slowly jacked the jack and it lowered the rotor allowing me to remove and replace the rear springs with ease.
