Guys- I have a GT auto premium. I added Bathurst (20x9.5 and 20x10) plus pilot super sports (275/35 and 295/35). I just lowered it with a Eibach pro kit. It's been lowered for two days...I just noticed rubbing on the rear tires. I ran my finger on the inside of the wheel wells and there was a thick layer of rubber on the inside edges.

I looked at a lot of setups with even more aggressive drop or tire width on the forum and no one reported any rubbing. I am confused as to why I am getting rub :frusty:

I am driving it normal and haven't taken any hard bumps or anything to cause it from my opinion. Here's some pics:

Side shot where you can see the size of the rear tire gap.

Pic of the rubbing on the tire.

Looking down to show how far the rears poke.

Any thoughts as to why the rub is occuring when others report no rub with more aggressive setups?

Is it rubbing on one side only or both?

If it is one side only, its possible that your IRS cradle may be off center a bit.

It's worse on the drivers side, but has noticeable rub marks on the passenger side too.

Different brand of wheel but same offset and some guys are going 305 or 315's versus my 295's. Most of the other cars are PP and mine is a GT premium auto....could the suspension differences be the cause?

I have 20x10.5 with a 295/35 tire in the rear as well and no rubbing. Your rears appear to have more offset then mine though. Looking straight down on my fender, my tire does not stick out farther then the fender, like in the pic of yours above. I am on Eibach sportlines that sit even lower than the pro-line.

Thanks for the input. What wheel? Do you know the offset?

Alright brotha so looking into this I checked the fitment specs that the wheels come in.

The only offsets for the 9.5/10 are as follow

20x9.5 ET 35
20x10 ET 40

Tire sizes check out to be perfectly fine since I have used wider before as well on the same setup without any issues.

Since you lowered the vehicle. Have you checked the following things which are important.

Camber specs
cradle position, if it is rubbing on one specific side it could be that when the rear was dropped for the springs they did not bring it back up correctly and it shifted, the Steeda alignment gromets help with that.

The outside of your rear wheel is sitting in 11.4 mm in further than my 19x10.5 +35. Mine poke out a little in the rear. I also am running a 285/35/19. Your tire is 1 1/4" taller than mine. I also have a 1" drop with the FRPP handling kit, yours is slightly more. Your PSS are wider and taller, and your car is lower. The offset is better suited to tuck underneath than mine, so it looks like you are right there in a pickle. It looks like you might want to run some negative camber in the rear. The stock camber adjustment slots are there, but not many shops know about them. You can easily get -2.5 degrees of camber in the rear if not more. That may or may not get you out of the situation.

From your numbers, I don't think anyone would have suspected you would have had a problem. My spreadsheet shows you should be better off than I am, but I don't take tire height into account, nor the amount of drop.

One of the Vossen cars ran a 12" rear with a +50 offset, but had enough negative camber to tuck it in. That was the far end of my envelope dimension, and I am 4 mm further in than that car in the rear. Your wheel is 15.4 mm further tucked in in the rear than that Vossen car.

Still a little confused. Sorry.

one of two issues
1. subframe is way off from install of the springs
2. your rear camber is out of whack and you need to dial this in better.

im running the same tires and much lower drop and i had eibachs and never had a rub issues.

Need more camber in the rear, since you are on progressive springs the wheels are traveling up a ton while driving. -1.5 to -2 degrees should do the trick

Bingo!

I am running 20x11 +45 with 305/35/20 Goodyear Supercar G:2 tires. I have Steeda progressives and about -1.7 Camber. Zero rubbing.

Steeda linears here, I'll be on 19x11's with 325/30/19's out back, praying to the car gods that -1.5-6ish will be just enough to not run since the 325's I'm getting gave a fairly narrow section width :headbang:
