Super not trying to hijack the convo, but since you mentioned the COBB AP... mine comes in tomorrow afternoon and I wanted to see if anyone had gotten away with just running it with no battery charger attached? I don't have one and I'm like... very mildly apprehensive.

Just make sure to turn off headlights, radio and AC. I loaded my Cobb AP without a battery tender, it takes less than 15 minutes to load, so it doesn't drain the battery much. I know others have done it also with no issue, I posted the exact same question in another thread the day before mine arrived a couple weeks ago haha.

Awwwww yeahhhhh... I'm super excited now. Thanks for the relief! Haha.

Just wrapped an impromptu photoshoot with it earlier today too! I'll post here soon with the shots so all the locals can see. ;)

I have never run a battery charger on any car I have flashed. it is a new car, the battery can handle 10 minutes of non-running use.

Well, add me to that list. Worked like a charm. No battery charger.

Ya man there ya go. It's only the initial tune that takes the longest because it has to make a copy of your ecu.

To switch between different maps now should only take a few minutes. I played with the valet mode to see how it works. It's so funny your accelerator has no input once you have it to 35mph, and it's impossible to build boost.

How you like the tune?

Haha, I haven't played with that yet but it sounds funny. :D

It's impressive. 1st gear screams much louder than it did before. And it overall feels lively. I'm hoping that the custom file is just that much more impressive. Seems like everyone has nothing but heaps of praise for it.

Ya did you get it from maperformance? If so, Adams real quick, just email him with your mods, octane, transmission and order number and he'll send you a tune right away. Although I think he might be at SEMA, so might be a little longer turn around. Once you do some data logs with his tune he will take a look and make sure everything is running good and see if he need to make any tweaks.

For me I was impressed with Cobb over stock, didn't think it could get much better as far as tuning, and then I got Adams tune and wow. I'll put it this way, it's the same amount of joy you get going from stock to Cobb tune as going from Cobb tune to Adam tune if that makes any sense.

Oh that's literally what I was about to type is that I was banking on it being the same jump going from Cobb to Adam as it was from stock to Cobb.

Yeah, I called him earlier to ask about the cruise control buttons (the manual from Cobb is a little lacking). Just emailed him but I don't expect a response today. If he does, I'll get datalogging as I go in to work tonight and coming back home.

I'm not sure if he needs data logging prior to him sending his tune. That's not what we did for me at least . He sent over his tune based on my mods. Then he wants you to data log with his tune running to see what, if any, adjustments need to be made. I sent over my data logs of me running his tune and he said everything looked perfect and healthy.

This is strictly speaking of the free Adam custom tune that comes with the access port purchased through MAP. It may be a different process for his e-tune.

Yeah that's what I'll be going off of is the free tune. Makes you wonder how many files he has for each of the varieties of mods people come to him with. Like I'm running just Denso ITV22 plugs and the Mishimoto CAI, but what if someone came to him with the same CAI and different plugs? Haha imagine the database!

Or maybe it's just "1 stop colder plugs + cai" and the brand doesn't matter... *shrugs shoulders*

Ya I'm thinking he has more of a data base of a few combinations of his in house (MAP) intercooler, intake, exhaust, and down pipe. Mostly likely did dyno pulls to see what each mod would do and tuned the motor accordingly. I'm sure from brand to brand the difference in tuning is almost negligible. If there's any big variation he will catch it in the data logs and adjust accordingly.

Im bone stock except with Torries 91 tune (LA has 91 as the highest gas). . Once Adam can tune the X4.. I may give him a try for kicks since it'll only be $75..

Have a feeling they won't be much dif from each other.. anyone ever had experience from both?

Ive had both and they aren't much different from each other at all in terms of power. That is comparing the free Adam tune with accessport to Torrie tuning. Adam's e-tuning however is a different story .

Wait wait wait. Explain that last sentence. Isn't the free tune the same as the e-tune... except the e-tune is just so you can keep pestering him after more mods? Lol :D

Or is it actually more comprehensive than the free tune?
