My moms Fiat:
Nice!!
Very similar to the one my mom had in early '70s:

Did you know that early models had the doors that opens from the other side??

Hahah giusto!!

Hi guys!
It's about two months now that I have my "pure american horses" like a friend told me everytime he sees my car :D and I have some more pictures for this thread!

Details of leather steering wheel

Premium leather seats, already showing marks of my butt :tsk: Did I told you that I HATE leather seats??

Under the hood

This is different for EU: the mystic deployable hood!
You can see the special hinge

and the mechanism that 'pops' out the hood (raising it about 10 cm) when hitting a pedestrian

Sadly, when it activate you have to replace the entire hood! :eyebulge:

Other hood details

We have K brace standard, but, believe it or not, it's ILLEGAL to have the strut tower brace. Yes, illegal.

One of the few Ford emblem

EasyFuel capless fuel cap :)

Electric folding wing mirrors
This is probably the only 'plus' feature we have compared to US model :clap2:

[ame]

It's not a huge width reduction but hey, better than nothing :D

Backup & reverse lights in action
Here I have already installed 20% black vinyl on backup light and red vinyl on taillights - I posted some info HERE

I will open a project thread to start documenting my mods :)
That's all for now!
Thanks for all the kind words

The EU has very stringent pedestrian-strike regulations. My guess is that it's supposed to deploy in the event of a strike, thus cushioning the impact of a person rolling onto the car.
Exactly

Since the hood hinges at the rear, it seems that when is pops up 10 cm it would just create a "knife edge" at the front lip of the hood to impale the pedestrian. LoL

Actually, I think the back of the hood pops up 10 cm - that's what the funky rear hinges are about. Guess that's supposed to make the pedestrian bounce off the hood and over the roof instead of hitting the windshield. :headbonk:

Man time flies, on the 31st I'm clocking my 3 month delivery date, apart from the fact that i had to wait another 10 days on the papers though....

Are you sure about the strut tower brace or is it only in Italy? As I'm about to order one!

The EasyFuel kinda sucks IMO as you can't lock it, if somebody wants to drop something in it ... we are screwed, unless it has some protection that I'm not aware of yet!

Not sure if the folding mirrors are supposed to save space or to prevent getting knocked off... either way they don't save all that much space.

Thanks for the pic's!!

Strut braces are not illegal in the UK. Absolutely no issue with factory or aftermarket. I'd be surprised if was the case in the rest of Europe.

Wasn't aware of the 'easy fuel' thingy, but it'll have an inline goz filter in the filler tube, all cars do, try poking a rod down the aperture, bet it won't go in far.

The below image is the same as I have fitted from the factory.

Congrats, congrats, congrats, your car looks great! It's so nice to see a much-loved American car being sold and actually lusted over in Europe. I'm sure you're going to love it. It was interesting to see all the differences between the US and European versions that you listed. I just returned from Paris where I rented a Ford Kuga which is the equivalent of the American Ford Escape. The only difference that I could discern was the diesel / stick shift drivetrain. Other than that it seemed identical to what we have here in the US except of course for the fact that the navigation system would only speak to me in French! (And yes I did run through all the menus and the rental agency told me English was not an option.....oh well!)

I was sure you will be interested in deployable hood
This is the explanation from the manual:

To me it seems a stupid safety system...

On second thought, 10cm might just be enough to finally line up the body panels. :)
you win!

Strut tower brace is illegal in Italy for sure, don't know the rest of Europe but probably this is only in my country :ninja: Yet another stupid regulation we should add to the "european book of stupid\nonsense laws"

Yeah EasyFuel has two 'doors' that opens only when you insert the gas pump deeply. Proof is that if you need to fill the tank with.. a gas tank, you need the special funnel that is inside the trunk - the only special thing is that it's long :D

Thank you! I'm just lovin' it :D
I do believe you on France.. they are very nationalist and for sure they have only french in its navigation systems! (I'm sure our french friends in the forum can confirm this )
