That was in 2013 things changed when it went into full production. Base weight of body is lighter but gained it back with IRS and added safety features. I think most knew this just some like to say they lied.
2013 is when Mustang6G (re)posted the video. The interview was conducted in April 2010.

Since your the fastest driver on this forum, why don't we take unworthy drivers out of the equation. which car do you think you could run a faster pass in? 16GT or 16SS?

The interview Dave Pericak conducted with Autoline was from April 2010, FFS. The final targets for S550 probably hadn't even been determined at that point in development, yet. In 2010, I bet Ford was still intending on using a modified S197 platform for the 2015 car.

An iota of your own research is always wise instead of putting blind faith into media outlets. This is what constitutes "journalism" nowadays, going as far as calling Dave Pericak a liar. It really is digraceful, in my opinion.
That interview was 2013. Did you listen to it? They talked about the 2011 v6 gaining weight and how people were upset.:headbonk:

Nope. It's episode 363 from April 5, 2010.

By the way, the 2011 Mustang models were launched in Spring of 2010, right when this interview was conducted, thus the reason for 2011 model year weight gain dialogue.

Further, from the link I posted (posted by Jarstang in May 2013):

"On April 5, 2010, Autoline Daily sat down with Chief Mustang Engineer, Dave Pericak to talk about the then current Mustang and Ford's plans for its next generation Mustang, which we now know as the s550. This may have taken place a while back, but it's got some great hints regarding the next Mustang that we bet many here haven't seen"

If they do DI I wouldn't think it would be a Coyote anymore. That is an entire architecture change.

True. And DI by itself is largely responsible for naming the LT1 as is instead of yet another LS.

THE coyote actually stands to outperform the LT1 at smaller displacement simply by going to some form of DI tech.

These cars have been competitors for years.... it will never change. I like them both but have enjoyed my 2015 GT pp since day one. IMO ford mustangs have always been more reliable. However, the Chevy Camaro has always provided more standard equipment i.e. heads up display & brembos... FWIW I would stay away from the 2016 Camaro SS until the engine issues are resolved:eyebulge:

It's good to have choices. I liked the last gen Camaro, but I thought on the whole the Mustang was better for me. Price for performance is a big part of my decision, as well as every day drivability and the ease of having a second set of rims for winter driving.

It's a nice car. I think the look is comparable with personal preference going to the Mustang.. Can they get with the times and go with a overhead cam design... The Coyote platform is amazing to say the least.. It responds to mods well and the sound is amazing compared to the Chevrolet single cam design.. The GT500 from 13 and 14 are a testament to Fords ability when they decide to add cubic inch. The car was almost 700hp on a very conservative tune. The 5.0 are tuned conservative from the factory. Honestly, I can see why a lot of people want to build a LS or LT1 based motor... BECAUSE ANYONE CAN DO IT..

Reguardless of what Ford names a direct injected engine(if they even decide to go in that direction). I think we can all agree there is plenty of meat left on the bone with the current technology.

3.9 sec. Bad ass car for sure. Love the front end! Looks better than the s550. The rear is ok but a nice spoiler and couple of cosmetic mods will make it look better. Can't wait till they bring out the 1le.

This.

All you hear is how great they are, blah, blah, blah. Well, yeah - they should be, displacing what they do (i.e. 6.2L as in the Camaro). Not to mention being a ripoff/evolution of the pushrod small-block Ford.....but I digress.

I have a relative that has a '12 SS (auto) that just got headers, CAI, and tune. I've ridden in it and it scoots pretty well, but I'm thinking, "Big fucking deal, it should rip, all things considered." I've had faster SBFs....

This winter my '15 will get a CAI and Lund tune, and then we're going to Mexico to shoot it out. :D

I owned a 2011 SS with headers, intake and tune and I promise you. It's an easy win for you.
